Moving from PuttyPortable to KiTTYPortable

Submitted by barbudor on March 17, 2013 - 4:13pm

Hello,

I am considering moving from PuttyPortable to KiTTY Portable.

While I can find some hints on KiTTY web site to move from standard PuTTY to KiTTY, I am unsure this applies to KiTTY Portable.

Also, is it possible to integrate KiTTY Portable with WinSCP Portable ?

Thanks for your help.

Pidgin: SIPE plugin for Lync / Office Communicator?

Submitted by kmelch on March 6, 2013 - 12:44pm

Hi All,

First post here, but been using these apps for years. LOVE EM.

So, I've read quite a bit about installing the SIPE plugin to allow Pidgin to work with a MS Lync Server. Is this possible with Pidgin Portable? Has anyone done this? I, of course, don't want to "install" anything, and can't seem to get the Office Communicator option to show up just by dropping dlls into the app folder as directed here:

Miranda: "Did not close properly..." likely related to hibernating and starting another computer?

Submitted by SimonT on January 19, 2013 - 2:46pm

I store my PortableApps content on my thumb drive and in my Dropbox (SkyDrive's not efficient enough for this) folder. The below applies to using it with Dropbox on personal devices.

I don't have the time to thoroughly test this out, but I think I'm getting the "Did not close properly..." message upon opening Miranda IM Portable on my desktop computer, after hibernating (i.e. not allowing Miranda to set some sort of flag for proper exit) the laptop. Is this a known issue? Is there a way to circumvent this problem, other than installing a copy of Miranda on the desktop?

Chrome Portable NPAPI Flash plugin?

Submitted by Lost1 on January 6, 2013 - 12:01am

Hello,

is it possible to include the NPAPI Flash plugin somehow to Chrome Portable so that it will be used instead of the build-in PPAPI plugin?

The PPAPI isn't compatible with Adobe Connect's Add-In and I'd like to use the NPAPI plugin even if Flash isn't locally installed.

When Flash is installed I can use this guide:

Miranda 0.10.9

Submitted by Lamici on December 19, 2012 - 7:12am

Hi.

After updating to Miranda Portable 0.10.9, I'm having problem with starting Miranda after logout.

For instance, if MirandaPortable is running when I logout (or poweroff), next time I started it, a message is showed about incorrect finalization and I have to start it again.

The message isn't showed if I start "miranda32.exe" directly.

Is it a bug?

TIA,
Lamici

FileZilla 3.6.0.1

Submitted by AthurLL on November 28, 2012 - 7:29am

I installed the latest FileZilla over my previous installation to update it and it removed all my settings and site manager entries. Lucky I had a backup of the settings to import. However, after using FileZilla and exiting it, I have noticed it is still running within Win 7 task manager. I have to select the process and end it to remove it.

In doing so, the next time I run FileZilla it tells me it didnt exit properly and all my FileZilla settings and site manager options are default or missing again.

Pidgin Smilies Rose and Other Tweaks Thereof

Submitted by GnomenKlayture on November 7, 2012 - 12:27pm

Anybody know how I can do things to the 'smilies', like change the color of the 'Red Rose' to a Yellow one. As well as 'tweak' the others or make some of my own? (My wife -hates- Red Roses because of her Ex and she now prefers Yellow Roses and it'd be so KEWL to be able to send her favorite colored Rose: Yellow)
Asking, because I don't even know where to begin... help? Please advise...

Pidgin: Buddy List not displaying in system tray icon or on taskbar

Submitted by djchangsta on October 10, 2012 - 9:27am

Hi,

I've been searching for a solution to this problem.

When I execute the program, the splash screen shows up and after that the buddy list should show in the system tray.
Now it doesn't display in the system tray, and no buddy list shows up in the taskbar.

I've checked the option to make sure it always shows in the system tray.
Checking the processes, two programs load.
Pidiginportable.exe and pidgin-portable.exe

Installing another copy of pidgin portable to another folder was a temporary work around I found. I'm hoping there another way to resolve this issue.

[Fixed] qBittorrent multiple instance

Submitted by Smyl3 on September 18, 2012 - 10:36am

When start qbittorent from its own shortcut or from an associated .torrent file, it starting an additional instance of the process in windows 7 x64, instead of use the already running one.
The problem occur only if I start the app from qBittorrentPortable.exe.
When I start from "\App\qBittorrent\qbittorrent.exe" (whats start method is not portable), and start another instance (from app start or from associated files), it will appear only a torrent add dialog in the app, or happen nothing.
