Pidgin: GAIM will not find any plugins

Submitted by PhreakOnALeash on June 4, 2007 - 3:13am

Hi,
I've set up the latest version of GAIMPortable and I cannot get it to recognize any plugins. I have dl'd the guifications.org plugin package and CurrentTrack (http://sourceforge.net/projects/currenttrack) followed the install directions (i copied them to /App/gaim/plugins in this case) and restarted GAIMPortable. I went to the plugins setup window, and found that GAIM had not found any of the plugins i had installed.
Am I doing something wrong?

Error, Can't parse 'Filezilla.xml', the file may be corrupt. For this session, the registry will be used to store the settings.

When starting Filezilla portable I get the message
Error, Can't parse 'Filezilla.xml', the file may be corrupt.
For this session, the registry will be used to store the settings.

I have tried exporting my settings (Filezilla offers a f filename of Filezilla settings.xml), but even if I change it to just Filezilla.xml, whether I put it in the PortableApps\Filezilla directory (as suggested by the help file), or in PortableApps\Filezilla\Data\Settings, I still get the same error.

My questions are:

Pidgin: Empty Buddy List

Submitted by LittleUnkn0wn on June 1, 2007 - 2:52pm

I use Gaim Portable to access my AIM account. Suddenly, today the buddy list was empty when I logged in. I logged in using AIM Express, and all of my buddies were there, so they were not deleted. I tried re-installing, but that did not work.
I am running Windows 2000 Pro
Any ideas?

Miranda: chat sounds

Submitted by JohnHolland on May 27, 2007 - 6:26am

I am using Miranda mainly for MSN-chat. I cannot get the chat sounds to work when a new message arrives, although in the settings this option is marked. Does anyone have a clue to this.
Thanks for your kind assistance,
cheers,
JH

Pidgin & OTR

Submitted by arnauldbordes on May 19, 2007 - 1:31am

First, thanks for all these portable applications...

It would be a good idea to implement OTR directly in the release of the coming PortablePidgin. For a few reasons:

-It would first make otr more accessible and easy to use.So many people don't even know they can "privatise" their conversations.
A lot of people don't use otr or other because they think it's difficult to use, complicated. If implemented directly, this problem will disappear and more and more people will use it.

Pidgin: Add Google Talk ( Gtalk) to the list of supported

Submitted by aztekian on May 18, 2007 - 9:32am

Gaim is also capable to work with Google Talk. I would like to see that added to the description of Gaim. So the short one on the portableapps.com/apps list and the bigger one on

https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/gaim_portable

If the description is made by the apps creator let me know and i will ask them :).

Greets,

Miranda: Profile can not be altered? Doesn't keep settings...

Submitted by Elchfaenger on May 16, 2007 - 10:37am

Hi everybody, i could use some help with the following problem:

I installed Miranda IM Portable, it works perfectly, with all Plugins, but:
It doesn't store any settings in the profile.dat. My Message History should go there as well as informations about read RSS feeds and so on.

Seems like Miranda just refuses to write that profile.dat even though it isn't write-protected...
Any ideas?
