GIMP: Pango error, Runtime error,

Submitted by 2evisual on July 9, 2006 - 11:12am

Hi to all, and thanks for having made this great software available,
especially as a PortableApp, It will be something awesome when we can save stuff as pdfs or even fla files. This is a superb little software and does anything a scalled down version of PShop does. I plan to use it where I have no access to a graphic software, and this comes up to my 1st question, what does the portable Gimp install on a host computer,(even if temporary) the reason I ask is if administrator privileges are blocking installs, how would this work, because it is using the host computer?

I've got a fairly new(1 yr)Dell Laptop running XPHome SP2.

GIMP: Freeze on exit

Submitted by EB1156 on July 5, 2006 - 6:02am

Each time I try to exit GIMP, it freezes. This happens whether I had first saved the project or wanted to discard it. Windows eventually asks me to "End Task". Anybody have any ideas? I am running it from a Memorex 512MB thumb drive.

Thanks.
EB

PS- John, you do great stuff with these apps. Keep them coming!

GIMP: Error In Installer?

Submitted by miksago on July 4, 2006 - 11:08pm

heyas,
I've just tried installing portable Gimp (two times, both didnt work) on my flash drive. It's a 512mb Kingston Datatraveler if thats any help.
I can download the *.exe file from sourceforge, no troubles. I goto install it, by double clicking on the *.exe file, the installer gets to 23% and then hangs, all it does is the creation of the directories -- nothing else.

Is anyone else having this problem? or does someone know what could be going wrong?

Cheers Miksago aka micheil.

GIMP: Loading Prob's w/Both Versions

Submitted by Tibal on June 4, 2006 - 5:44pm

I have tried both versions of 2.2.11 and both have come up with the same error (though in the second version atleast the app actually launches and I just have to click through dozens of error messages).

The two messages that are popping up are (besides the already known messages: gspawn-win32-helper on startup):

This application has failed to start because libgimpui-2.0-0.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

This application has failed to start because libgimp-2.0-0.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Any help with that would be great.

GIMP: Help files

Submitted by Cutter on May 13, 2006 - 2:27am

I am not all that familiar with Gimp as I am a fanatical PS user but I think Gimp would make an excellent substitute for PS on my portable.

Would it be possible to include the help files with the portable version of Gimp for those of us first time Gimp users? Were they intentionally left out to save space?

GIMP: launch error for GTKDirectory

Submitted by Gullibaer on May 10, 2006 - 11:32am

The PortableGIMP.ini file has a spelling error for the GTK-bin
directory:

it should be changed from:

gtk\gin
to:
gtk\bin

But any way, you will get an error during startup that the system was not able to find gtk libraries. In the PortableGIMP.nsi the following lines need to be changed:

90 StrCpy "$GTKDIRECTORY" "$EXEDIR\$0"
92 StrCpy "$SETTINGSDIRECTORY" "$EXEDIR\$0"

The $EXEDIR should / must be removed.

GIMP: Can't save anything other than XCF or use any plugins...

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on May 2, 2006 - 11:19am

I just downloaded Portable Gimp 2.2.11 (and I've also had this same problem with the same version of the installed gimp...)

I can create a new file or edit and already existing jpg/png/gif, etc... I save it as an xcf then I try to save it as a jpg or png and the save dialog just stops working. Both the cancel and the "x" don't work. It just sits there like it forgot what it was doing. I don't get any error messages.

I can still do things in the rest of the program (even save it again as an xcf), but the save dialog just hangs out doing nothing. And I can't save anything other than an xcf.
