ClamWin: Outdated

Submitted by MattNW on March 5, 2008 - 12:16am

I just downloaded the portable version of ClamWin. When updating the definitions it says the app is out of date. On the FAQ page of the portable version it says to update the app all I need to do is download it again to my USB drive but the download I have there now is barely 24 hours old. Does the portable ClamWin have a different version number that makes the downloader think it's outdated or is the PortableApps version on the Source Forge site actually outdated? If so where do I get a recent portable version?

Memory usage: KeePassPortable1.10 vs. Portable KeePass1.10

Submitted by Saibot on February 20, 2008 - 11:21am

I've started closely monitoring memory usage on my system recently using Process Explorer and today I noticed that KeePassPortable1.10 was using ~35M of memory. After restarting it a couple of times, it's clear that's the standard. That seemed exorbitant since the KPP directory is only 1.3M on my disk.

So I went over to the KP site and downloaded their Portable version of KP1.10. Low & behold, this version uses less than 4M running with the same database & ini file.

Any idea why KPP is grabbing up so much memory?

Thanks,
Tobias

I love Portable apps and the clamwin AV portable. However it seems to be outdated frequently. Is it scheduled to be updated to the current ClamWin AV version soon? see below:

ClamWin: Protecting USB Flask drive from infected PC,How?

Submitted by dohouch on February 15, 2008 - 5:12am

Travelling and using Firefox portable, my USB drive picked up a virus
from an Internet cafe.(which made installed apps unuseable I reformatted and reinstalled but it happend again.

(Now at least I know where I got it!)

I thought I would use ClamWin-AntiVirus from "portableApps" but believe this would involve me scanning the host computer which is a bit time consuming. So is there a practical, - time wise - solution to protect USB drives from infected PC's.

I downloaded "Drive Sentry" which I don't really understand and also is not free.
Thanks

AVG claims trojan in portable clamwin

Discussion moved here: https://portableapps.com/node/11334

Hi

This may be a false positive but I thought I had better share this result from AVG pro today:

"Trojan horse Downloader.Zlob.UAQ","C:\ClamWinPortable\ClamWinPortable.exe","2/9/2008 9:37:00 AM","ClamWinPortable.exe"

Sorry' I have not got the time or energy to pursue this but thought the community would want to know.

regards

Guy
