Security Apps Support

I love Portable apps and the clamwin AV portable. However it seems to be outdated frequently. Is it scheduled to be updated to the current ClamWin AV version soon? see below:

Travelling and using Firefox portable, my USB drive picked up a virus
from an Internet cafe.(which made installed apps unuseable I reformatted and reinstalled but it happend again.

(Now at least I know where I got it!)

I thought I would use ClamWin-AntiVirus from "portableApps" but believe this would involve me scanning the host computer which is a bit time consuming. So is there a practical, - time wise - solution to protect USB drives from infected PC's.

I downloaded "Drive Sentry" which I don't really understand and also is not free.

This may be a false positive but I thought I had better share this result from AVG pro today:

Offers to update virus database then this error message comes up:

The latest data bases of ClamAntiVirus [The dats used by ClamWin and therefore ClamWinPortable] have a Probable False Positive for Ad-Aware.

For those who don't know Ad-Aware is the grand daddy of antiAdware/Spyware programs and many people have it on their machine. I have had the same .exe on my machine for over a year. While it is possible that the .exe could have been infected in the past 2 days it is unlikely. The rest of the system reports clean from CWP and my other malware checkers.

I reported it to the ClamAv team last night.

I can't swear to this but I'm 80% sure I've lost my preferences.
I "usually" set CWP to not scan certain file types.
I'm pretty sure I did it last time with a Clean install.
This time I installed in place [over existing CWP]
All preferences are gone.

Is this to be expected?
Not a biggie, but I thought I'd mention it.

I bought a 4gig usb stick yesterday, and downloaded the Suite onto it. When I went in to check the ClamWin program it gave all these errors saying that it was out of date. I found the updated version, from the url it gave, and tried to install the updated version, but for some reason, it wont install to the usb, it installs it on the pc instead. i have directed the installation to the usb, and the right folder, but it ends up installing it on the pc instead. Can somebody help? Its getting really frustrating.
