A solution for the slowness of Firefox Portable on USB drives

Submitted by jrb on March 23, 2007 - 2:26pm

I could find a solution to make agile the starting of Firefox Portable in USB drives (in comparison with the speed that has a hard disk). Combining Fxp with 7-zip it is possible to be copied to the disc of the computer, and the changes that are made in firefox keep in the end in USB.
Doswnload this file, that explains more in detail. The file this in a very preliminary version.

I do not know if this were posted previously.

Run Multiple Firefoxes? (solved)

Submitted by obenhodc on March 23, 2007 - 12:39pm

Is it possible to modify a Firefox Portable launcher or app to allow more than one to run at a time? I'm doing some web testing and would like to be able to run them side by side to make comparisons. I would also like to be able to run torpark alongside firefox, but the exe running is the same. Is this something that can be changed in the launcher, or would I need to re-compile the programs to change the exe name?
Thank You

Move Player Plugin?

Submitted by celloguy on March 22, 2007 - 4:36pm

So I have a question about the Move player plugin that is used to watch streaming video on the CW and ABC's new video sites. I can't get it to install on Portable. I have been able to get it to work on my home installation of Firefox, and I tried copying everything from the plugins folder, but it still doesn't work.
Has anyone gotten this to work on portable Firefox? If so, what do I do, and if not, can anyone help me figure out what other files AI might need to manually transfer?
Thanks!

Firefox portable CORE

Submitted by AndaleTheGreat on March 22, 2007 - 12:08pm

I use Firefox 2 from this site, and I love it, it works pretty great, but...

I was wondering if there is any way i can change the core files to reference all my saved stuff from my USB, like bookmarks and passwords.
I use it at work and home but it's horribly slow and delayed from the flash drive (yes, it is usb2) so since I can keep a copy of firefox on my work comp I was hoping I could tell it to reference my settings elsewhere, then all it has to access is a few files and not the whole dang core set to run it.

Plugins

Submitted by Riyonuk on March 21, 2007 - 10:37pm

Is there some way to download some of the more popular plugins (flash, shockwave) all at once? My situation is one in where I am restricted to run .exe and find it difficult to use Universal Extractor to get it from the flash player installer. The hard part is actually downloading the .exe from there main site. If not, thats ok.

Also, I got the latest release of FireFox Portable, and in the plugins folder, there are new plugins?

npnul32.dll
npqtplugin2.dll
npqtplugin3.dll
npqtplugin.dll
nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt
QuickTimePlugin.class

One-Click Solution for Profile Transfer

Submitted by Kaputt on March 21, 2007 - 1:02pm

Hello everyone,

is there a one-click-solution for transferring the profile settings (including bookmarks, extensions, passwords etc.) from my local installation of Firefox to Firefox Portable (on my USB-Flash-Stick) and back? I would like to keep profile data of both Firefoxes synchronized.

I haven't found any clue in the FAQ nor via searching the boards, although I assumed my request to be covering a commonly desired feature.

I would be glad to receive some advise.

Thanks a lot!

Michael
