Themes not working with pFF

Submitted by costnowt on April 10, 2007 - 5:50pm

Hi! I'm aware that answers have ostensibly been given in this forum to the question I'm about to ask but having tried the suggestions I'm still stuck, so here goes. I too am having problems getting my themes to work for my pFF.

I download one from addons.mozilla.com, it will show up in 'All-in-One Sidebar' with a message to restart Firefox to complete installation. I then click 'Use Theme', again I am invited to restart, which I do and I'm still left with the default theme.

I think.. Smile

I am having some problems recently on my web site displaying some flash/shockwave files produced by the gallery software "Porta". IE version 7 displays everything fine.

I have PFF version 2.0.0.3. I went to Adobe/Macromedia site using PFF and on the test page it showed Shockwave was not installed. When I tried to install it, it said finished and installed, but upon closing that window, an error windows message said :

windows cannot find U:\PORTAB~1\APP\FIREFOX\FIREFOX.EXE

firefox.exe was not found

all of a sudden when i now try to use firefox portable i get an error message telling me it could not find the exe file, check your configuration. what is going on? i'd like to not have to reinstall the app cause i have my extensions, bookmarks, etc exactly how i like them....

any thoughts?

ps: i've checked the directory and firefoxportable.exe is there...

Want portable FF to open media with portable app

Submitted by Boatman on April 7, 2007 - 11:19am

I would like portable FF to always open embedded video or audio files with a portable player such as VLC Media Player, rather than the "standard" for the computer such as WMP. Is there any way to make that happen? Would Firefox Add-on MediaPlayerConnectivity at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/446 help with this? How do others work around this?

Thanks!

Boatman

Addons won't work

Submitted by FabianN on April 5, 2007 - 12:19pm

I am having this odd problem.
I like to configure all my portable apps on my harddrive for the speed, then just drag and drop the files onto the thumb drive.
At first I thought I had done something wrong, but every time I install addons and move it, I start up firefox the first time and it won't start up at all. The proccess is running, but no even the splash screen shows up.
And then I close that, pull the drive out and plug it back in, and it starts up fine, but all the addons are gone.

Anyone having this problem?

After a few days use, FF Portable will not load and will hang with 100% CPU usage

Great program, but I have a problem - every few days I need to re-load all the files back onto my flash drive because, when trying to load the application, it will hang after the splash screen disappears with 100% CPU usage.

It's not file corruption - the flash drive is a new and high quality OCZ flash drive that hasn't given me any problems and this happens too regularly after copying files over.

It could be an extension - I use a bunch but none of them give me any problems at all when the application is working correctly.
