What? (update failure!)

I can't update, not even in safe mode. It says it found the update, but then the little progress bar runs for a while (no actual progress, just the 3 little bars running), doesn't actually connect, and says it downloaded the update and wants me to restart. So I close Fx, open it, and it says it needs to download a full update, and does the same thing ad infinitum. Forecasfox does the same thing too for some reason. The three boxes will go on forever.

Loading Speeds

How come it takes so long for it to load when switching from diffrent pc's? It still takes a while to load from the same pc, why cant it load as fast as Portable PuTTy? That up and running before the splash screen even closes. As Im typing this, its already been about 3min and firefox still hasnt loaded yet. Of course Im used to this...

When I click on an URL...

Submitted by fluzjer on March 29, 2007 - 1:36pm

I only use Firefox Portable. Every time I click on an URL on a mail or in MS WORD, it open "another" firefox, not my portable firefox with my own configuration, my bookmarks, my extensions... but another "clean" firefox.

It weird because I don´t have instelled the "Official" version, justt the portable.

I want to know how can I do to open my FF when I click on a link.

Sorry for my english

Cannot display different language encode

Submitted by siulung on March 28, 2007 - 3:23am

I have recentely found firefoxportable and found this really helpful but found a problem.

when i am running firefoxportable on a computer without admin right, and without language pack installed on the computer, if i run firefoxportable to visit some other language web site ( chinese for example ) i am not able to change the encode to display the web page in that language even tho i have the options to such a language and all i got are a bunch of uni-code characters.

Conflict with the launcher

Submitted by kudanai on March 24, 2007 - 1:40am

I wasn't sure if i should post this on the "running multiple instances" thread.

so apparently if both the launcher and the firefox (also thunderbird) main executable have the same file name, firefox (thunderbird) assumes another instance is running and refuses to run (if the multiple instances option is set to false).

Compile portable FF question --with-user-appdir= ?

Submitted by lightzoo on March 23, 2007 - 6:34pm

Hi,

I am trying to create a portable FF for linux and it's pretty much done except FF looks in ~/.mozilla/firefox/* for pluginreg.dat upon start.

I remember reading this was an issue when Mr. Haller was first creating portableFF for Windows.

So, if I compile with "--with-user-appdir=.CustomDir" FF will not look in ~/.mozilla, correct?

I don't want FF creating any dirs on the HDD and right now if ~/.mozilla/firefox/pluginreg.dat does not exist FF creates it.

Can I compile without specifying a dir, eg:
--with-user-appdir=
