NO SAFE MODE!

Submitted by Keith Warner on April 22, 2007 - 6:22am

I'm new to using flash drives. Just for the heck of it I bought a Keystone 1Gb USB 2.O and installed Firefox Portable. Everything was fine. I had a carbon copy of my regular FF. That is until I installed the onFocus Reload add-on. On restarting FF the browser freezes immediately after opening, with this message in a box: ! [object Event]. I know how to deal with unruly add-ons by starting FF in Safe Mode to disable/remove, but I don't see any way to do it with Portable.

Any Ideas?

Strict company security policy - Firefox detected as 'virus-ike' application

Submitted by El-Mans on April 22, 2007 - 5:20am

This post is not about FFP as a 'false positive' by A/V software due to the launcher's behaviour, rather about "firefox.exe" being included in a company's A/V blacklist.

Until recently I happily used FFP on my work computer. Recently my employer has included Firefox in a blacklist of its A/V SW. When trying to run FFP now, a Virus-Warning mesage will appear, then the A/W SW will delete firefox.exe from my removable drive.

Real Player Plugin

Submitted by ateamraya on April 20, 2007 - 6:25am

I like to watch programs from the following Website:

http://www.cbs.com/innertube/

I use Portable Firefox. the website requires real Player plugin. It works on my home computer which has real player installed but I can't get it to work when using it on a computer without realplayer installed and I don't have admin priviledges to install on the work computer. I have tried copying everything I can find into the Port FF Plugins folder but to no availe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Search plugin PortableApps.com Improved

Submitted by wsm23 on April 18, 2007 - 2:29pm

Here is a slightly improved version of the search plugin Ryan posted here: https://portableapps.com/node/3578

All I did was shorten up the descriptions so that it now stays within the search box column when you hit change arrow.

http://wsm23.cubegames.net/Downloads/portableapps_search.xml

It works with FF 2.0.

EDIT: How to install.
1. "Save link as"
2. Place the file in your PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\searchplugins directory.
3. Restart Firefox.

UPDATED:
Now available on mycroft.

FP Live starting performance

Submitted by HugoSeppel on April 18, 2007 - 11:24am

It's me again...

As I understand the FP Live copies all the necessary files to the hard disk. On computers with a slow CD-ROM drive this takes some time. The launcher does this every time the Firefox Portable is started even if I don't delete the files on the HDD. I wonder if there is a chance to let the launcher only copy the files from CD to HDD which are different or are missing on HDD. I looked around in the nsi file and started to read the documentation of NSIS but found nothing. Has anyone of you an idea how to make this?
