Thunderbird Portable

New message notification sound.

Submitted by Anthony A on December 1, 2007 - 8:49pm

I have a sound I like to set for the new message notification in Thunder Bird. In TB options I just set it to use the sound. On my normal install this is no problem. On portable TB I set the path to the file but the drive letter will change depending on then machine I am on. So if I set the path as F:/Documents/gmail.wav it doesn't work if I am on a machine that designates my thumb drives as another letter other than F. Is there a way around this?

Putting A Christmas Present Together

Now that I'm becoming an old fart, I can honestly say that I'm damned impressed with what you kids have put together. You can't see the change from my perspective so you'll have to trust me; you're doing a great job.

I've had nothing but good experiences with the suite until I recently upgraded Thunderbird.

Now, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't jump on me to RTFM lest I jump back and all hell breaks loose. No one wants that.

The thing is, everything was going just fine with PortaBird until I recently upgraded.

Not really a bug, but still a bit annoying (2.0.0.9)

I set the portable thunderbird as my default email client. When I click on an email link on a web page (Firefox 2.0.0.10), Thunderbird launches as expected, but it also activates the new account setup wizard, which closes Thunderbird unless I go ahead with creating a new account.

If Thunderbird is already launched before I click on an email link, then I don't get this problem.

Transferring Thunderbird Profile to Thunderbird Portable

Submitted by aoniumo on November 30, 2007 - 4:34pm

The guide on this link in the support section does not work:
https://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable#local_profile

I have two profiles in regular thunderbird and they both have the names
XPC.mfl
XUL.mfl

They are in separate folders. When I copy the contents of one .default folder into the profile folder in Thunderbird Portable and then open THunderbird portable program, there is no profile there.

How do I resolve this? Thank you,

Two problems after transferring profile - Solved

Submitted by PhoenixRising on November 30, 2007 - 7:32am

I'm new to PortableApps and I love 'em.

Set up TBird and copied my profile from Thunderbird to PortableTB. When I restarted PortableTB I noticed two problems.

First, there is a red message at the bottom of the Thunderbird window - menu id="offlineMenuItem" insertafter="trashMenuSeparator" label="&offlineMenu.label;" accesskey="offlineMenu.accesskey;"----^. I have no idea where to start looking for the problem.

Inbox dissapears

I've been having that problem for weeks. I've lost my Inbox emails 4 or 5 times already. It just shows me all of a sudden an empty Inbox..... and all my e-mails dissapear

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance

Running Thunderbird through a Proxy-Server

Submitted by buschwo on November 22, 2007 - 3:32am

I'm running Thunderbird portable and Firefox portable through a Proxy-Server, which requires a user-ID and password on every internet access. Firefox does this perfectly, Thunderbird doesn't do and only returns "failed to connect to pop3 Server". Is there any way to adjust this with about:config?
Thanks for help.
