[solved] profile paths messed up - TB/FF Portable VS Local

Submitted by BegBen on March 23, 2009 - 9:05am

Hey, I am desperate now, please read carefully:

I want to use ThunderbirdPortable 2.0.0.21 and FirefoxPortable 3.0.7 on Windows XP Professional on my laptop as the default Interet and E-mail instead of the local versions.
Unfortunatelly I had this thought after I had installed TB/FF Local versions. Now to my shame I can't remember if I uninstalled TB/FF Local first and then created the TB/FF Portable versions or the other way round.

What I want is:
1) TB/FF Portable as default Internet and E-Mail
2) accessible through start menu (set via start menu properties>customize)

Solved: Addons are not installed as restart is not recognized

Submitted by ThomasLux on March 20, 2009 - 3:27pm

Hello,

I updated to the newest versions of portableapps and thunderbird but the problem is still there.

In Thunderbird i used several addons which worked for long time. After upgrading thunderbird some time ago, new addon-versions were needed. After downloading them, I installed them as usual, but thunderbird did not finish installation, as it does not recognize the restart.

When i look under the addons the message stays the same: Will be installed after restart !

Thunderbird Portable doesn't want to work anymore

Submitted by GBray on March 20, 2009 - 4:03am

I am using Windows XP SP2 and Mozilla ThunderbirdPortable on USB key

Yesterday I compact my mail-folders with Thunderbird Portable and since that I am unable to use it. I get an error message from Windows what is strange for me.
I suppress the ThunderbirdPortable folder and reinstall the software but I get the same message.
I am also surprised by the fact that ThunderbirdPortable appears in one key of the registry.
How can I solve this problem ?
Many thanks for the answer.

Attachments

I have TBP 2.0.0.17. It seems that I only have 2 options when receiving attachments and that is to manually click toopen them or send them to a folder which I specify.

I'm used to Eudora for 12 years and it would automatically send the attachment to the folder I preset AND still allow me to open it at will.

Is there any way to do that with TBP 2.0.0.17

Swedish characters ÅÄÖ disappearing

Submitted by mr_bruce on March 11, 2009 - 5:30am

Hi,

After installing Thunderbird Portable I started loosing the swedish characters ÅÄÖ in the subject line of incoming emails.

I´ve also had recipients of my emails complaining that ÅÄÖ is replaced with weird statements like Å becomes "å".

Any idea what this might be?

In settings the character encodings are set to Western (8859-1). I think it is the same as when I had the regular Thunderbird. It might have been "Western Europe" but I cannot find this setting here.

ISO 8859-1 should be right I think.

Confusion Transferring TB Portable settings

Submitted by eltonbrad on March 5, 2009 - 6:13am

Hi all,

I'm a bit confused here as what I'm about to say. You see, I'd like to be able to transfer all my emails and settings from my local Thunderbird into Thunderbird Portable. I've read the section in Thunderbird Portable Support about transferring the settings, I've followed the directions to where to get my local Thunderbird settings (I use Windows XP at the moment, so it's under the Documents And Settings folder). I checked the instructions again and it said to copy the files into the Data/Profile directory within Thunderbird Portable, that's where I'm getting confused.

Oi pessoal, to aqui tentando ajudar novamente.
