Help syncing local ThunderBird/Lightning with Portable Version! Recommended Profiles & pathways dont exist!

Submitted by mzports on February 12, 2009 - 7:16pm

Hi everyone. Yeah, i know...a NEWBIE! i've searched and read everything i could find on this, and nothing quite works. Also i'm not computer savy...other than data entry....so file type "speak" and other lingo goes way over my head!

I've recently dumped MS Outlook in favor of Thunderbird w/lightning on my desktop. I've entered all my addresses & address books, appointments, daily logs in the calendar, etc. ,but as far as syncing to the portable usb drive, i've only been able to install the portable program w/lightning extension and that's it.

Using the TBP mails folder as default in Ubuntu Thunderbird (or even Evolution)

Submitted by Laszlo on February 11, 2009 - 10:36am

Hi, folks!

Is there any way to use the mails folder on TBP (in my pendrive) as default folder in any mailing soft on Ubuntu?

I mean, I want to have the pendrive with all mails actualized without having to "sync" (copy folders). Is possible to do it?

Thank you for your time, and sorry for my english ^^

Can't send mail: Sending of message failed. Error writing temporary file.

Submitted by Hilmar on February 11, 2009 - 8:10am

I have a really urgent problem:

When trying to send mail (regardless from what account) i get the errormessage: "Sending of message failed. Error writing temporary file." I do have enough diskspace, none of the folders is writeprotected.

The problem occured for the first time today, and there is no event that comes to mind that could have caused this. I did not change any options in thunderbird.

Version is: 2.0.0.19 (20081209), running from usb-drive

Who can help?

Hi,

Till this moment I was using web based email. Now I decided to use Thunderbird portable mail client. I have tons of emails in server. I fill preferences in my portable client so I was able to download all emails from Inbox folder. But I have no idea how to dowload emails from other folders like: Sent and custom one?

I am kindly asking for help/ advice.

All best,
Krzychu

Thunderbird bug

Submitted by ghisirds on February 6, 2009 - 4:18pm

It has happened me to save received mail with thunderbird, the email client branded Mozilla, but when I'm saving I don't have a default name and I have to insert manually a new one.

Usually the mail subject is proposed as name of the file but this doesn't happen when in the subject there are not conventional characters.
When this happen I cancel the saving, go back to the mail where i copy the subject and save again pasting the name but all this is very unconfortable!!

Thunderbird Portable not receiving or sending mail

Submitted by raspore on February 5, 2009 - 4:28pm

My boss has thunderbird on his main office pc but wanted to check his email from other locations from his laptop. I downloaded the Thunderbird Portable to a usb flash and it does not seem to be working. I cannot receive email at all, it does not show any of the email that should have been in the inbox. I sent a test email and the pc received it but he laptop did not. There was NOT a profile "profile" folder within the "Data" folder so I created on and copied his entire default folder into the "profile" folder I created. What have I done wrong or not done right? Thanks, Heid

TB Portable 'lost contact'

Submitted by HerbEppel on February 4, 2009 - 8:05am

My wife uses TB Portable, and it used to work very well.

However, suddenly it appears to have lost contact with her profile, i.e. on startup TB comes up with the account setup wizard and then just an empty TB window when I cancel the wizard.

Any suggestions for how to reconnect the profile?

Thank you.

IMPORT local profile + mail settings into TBP does not work as it should - URGENT

Hi!

I am new to portableapps, having just stumbled upon it a couple of days ago. I wanted to be sure switching to TBP would go without any problems. It seemed it would - or so I thought.
Know before you say anything I've backed up my local TB a hundred times and am therefore familiar with the general process. Still, this time is different.
I was using version 2.x before, yet not the latest version of TB, and now I am using the latest TBP version.
I've got a backup of all previous Application data and of my former install folder.

Firm and cypher of messages

"Firma y cifrado de mensajes email

Qué lista de programas pueden usarse en combinación con Thunderbird (portable) para firmar y cifrar en el envío de correos electrónicos ?

Gracias

El cifrado me gustaría que fuera durante el envío y que el destinatario no tenga que necesitar contraseñas o por el estilo. No se si existe algo así. "

I would like to know the list of programs compatible with Portable Thunderbird for encrypting messages during sending emails.

And firm too.

Thanks
Excuse my language. I'm from Canary Islands

Hi folks! My english is not very good, so I hope you can understand me.

I want to run Thunderbird Portable 2.0.0.9 from a CD, so I have put the "ThunderbirdPortable.ini" file that I have found here (https://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable#cd) in E:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable directory.

Now, the locale-switcher is not working properly and the programm is running in english.
