Submitted by weary_girl on May 2, 2010 - 6:07pm

I added my chosen (TrueType) font files into the directory H:\OpenOfficePortable\App\openoffice\share\fonts\truetype. However, when I use OpenOffice, I cannot find the chosen fonts. (I am using OpenOffice Portable 3.2.) Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Open office portable doesn't start on Vista

Submitted by blt on April 30, 2010 - 3:12am

Hi,

i have installed my OOPortable 3.1.1 on custom path under the program files folder on windows, and the path length is 52 characters. But the open office doesn't start, because the user directory couldn't be accessed.
When i installed it on other location (shorter such 20 characters, works fine).
On the same path under Windows XP, works without problems.
I know that the max path length on windows XP is 261 characters, but what is with windows Vista, windows 7, windows server 2008, is they other lesser max path length as XP?

Deleting

I didn't want OpenOficePortable, so I deleted it, and it deleted half the file until a "cannot delete _______: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." error message pops up. THE ONLY THING I HAVE OPEN IS WINDOWS EXPLORER!!!!! Can someone please help me delete this?

Thanks

variant dist. with 1.6

Submitted by djenner on April 26, 2010 - 2:49pm

A quick scan did not show anyone else commenting on precisely this: I recently moved one of my teaching flashkeys from 1.5 to 1.6; I was disappointed. The portableapps shell seems fine, but the version of OOo (3.1.x?) included was buggy. Most notably and most important for me, it would freeze when asked to open an existing file. I uninstalled it, finally, and replaced it with 3.2, and this appears to work correctly. Both, however, are >>DRAMATICALLY

Install and Run Endnote for OpenOffice (Writer) on USB Drive

Submitted by fairviewpark on April 22, 2010 - 1:50am

Hi,

I have OpenOffice (Writer) on a USB drive. I also have a copy of Endnote and would like to install it to use with OpenOffice (Writer) onthe USB drive. So, I can writer my paper with Writer and insert citations from Endnote within the USB drive. Would it be possible? My university does not allow students to install anything on PCs on campus. I have tried to install Endnote on the USB drive but the installation doesn't allow me to choose where to install and so cannot choose the USB drive.

Please help. Thanks!

Java (and general maintenance of this application)

Submitted by Peter22 on April 18, 2010 - 2:06pm

Hi folks,

I was trying to find out about the need for a local JRE to run this application and got a bit irritated that the support page says "up to version 2.4.1 has built-in support for using Sun Java" and we are now at v 3.2

Also the change log ends with an entry from 2008, although it is my impression that with all the other applications which are officially part of the suite the turn-over-policy is something like 24hours.

Hm, sorry for being so sceptical.
