[Fixed] uTorrent update error - just me?

Submitted by theBIG on August 7, 2011 - 11:14pm

I hope this is the right place to post this... I'm unable to update uTorrent to the current release. Using the auto-update function in the newest beta, this has been going on since 3.0 build 25454 was released, some 3 wks ago. All other apps are updating fine. Apologies if this has already been noted somewhere, but I didn't see any mention in the forum.

Here's a screencap of the error message:

updating extensions/plugins

Submitted by ajh65622 on August 4, 2011 - 9:09pm

i'm new at all this, but i've been running portable chrome off a flash drive for a couple months. i used to run portable firefox, but i find chrome much faster and less prone to crashing. my issue is that i can't keep track of when plugins/extensions/'whatever they're called' need updating! i try to open a PDF and i get an error- my adobe is out of date, i can't update it on the work computer cause i dont have admin access. so then i try and update on my home computer. except, portable chrome just uses the files from my computer (instead of the updating the missing portable files).

Songbird Portable Not Using USB

Submitted by jsblume on August 2, 2011 - 8:32pm

I posted this on the Songbird.com website, but it was suggested that the problem was with PortableApps, so here it is:

I purchased a Toshiba Canvio Basics USB Hard Drive 320 GB, installed the PortableApps system and Songbird Portable on it, and copied all of my MP#'s to the Music folder on the USB drive.

I can't seem to create play lists that contain those songs. It seems I can only create play lists for music in the library, which is stored on computer to which the device is attached.

I want the music library for Songbird Portable to use the Music folder on my USB hard drive.

[Fixed] Eraser saves to %windir%

Submitted by fearless96 on July 31, 2011 - 9:00pm

Eraser app - Edit - Preferences - Erasing - Answer "no" to upgrading the format, if asked.

Side note: answering "yes" seems to corrupt the settings but that is out of the scope of this post. I don't think that is a portable bug.

If you create a new erasing method, Eraser creates the file %windir%\Eraser.INI. Can Eraser portable be updated to redirect this file? Thanks!

(FYI, an all zeroes one pass erasing method is useful for compacting virtual hard disks.)

SeaMonkeyPortable_2.2_English.paf.exe won't install

Submitted by pajbob011 on July 31, 2011 - 4:08pm

(Windows XP Home SP3)

SeaMonkeyPortable_2.2_English.paf.exe won't install. It never gets started. When I try to open the installer .exe file, it immediately gives a popup saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close:

Notes:

-The MD5 hash of the installer file checks OK, so it's not corrupt.

-I've installed several other portable browsers without problems (Chrome, Opera, Maxthon, etc).
