XNView moves or copies

Submitted by Veazer on May 5, 2010 - 7:02am

I moved XNView portable to a slow usb stick and noticed that it is either moving or copying the file xnview.ini (11.2KB) during startup and shutdown, i can see the explorer window showing a file being moved. It happens again when shutdown.

It doesn't cause any errors, but i haven't notices this on any other portable app and thought it was a little odd...

Error message

Submitted by moiraesfate on April 29, 2010 - 3:40pm

I've been trying to load chrome and firefox onto a thumb drive.

Every time I try, it says that it cannot be completed, then gives the path that its going to (which is the correct path), and then this message...

"Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed"

Help would be much appreciated. This error occurs with more than one thumb drive.

Skype Portable executable damaged?

Submitted by Legolasz on April 28, 2010 - 6:53am

I tried to install Skype Portable today, but when I try to execute the installer I get the following NSIS error message:

Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer's author to obtain a new copy.

Here's the link I followed:
Outdated download link removed

I have tried several times from different locations, all yield the same result. Is the installer damaged, by any chance? All help appreciated.

Adobe Flash Updates

Submitted by Homer_S on April 27, 2010 - 11:11am

I have started poking around with using Portable Apps and saw several discussions on getting the most recent Flash. Here is what I have condensed and have working for both Chrome and Firefox.

I use Chrome on my desktop, so I did the latest Flash update and found the new files:

- flashplayer.xpt
- NPSWF32.dll
- NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe (not sure you need this one)

Copied them, creating the directory and/or replacing if necessary, where PA: is the PortableApps installed drive:

Google Chrome path -> PA:\GoogleChromePortable\App\Chrome-bin\plugins
