Google Chrome Portable

Submitted by Roberto_roberto on April 7, 2010 - 3:59am

Good morning,

I have just downloaded Google Chrome Portable 4.1.249.1036.

The software works only correctly if I install him/it in a different folder from "C:\programmi".

If I install him/it in the folder "C:\Programmi" (for example "C:\Programmi\ChromePortable") the software doesn't give signs of life.

Someone knows how to help me.

Thanks thousand.

Windows 98 Support

Submitted by Another Fred on April 3, 2010 - 2:23pm

Summary: Can anyone point me to the Win98 final version wrap up that John T Haller suggested about a year ago? Does anyone have a copy of Portable Java with Java version 6 update 07, and the Portable Java Launcher that goes with it?

Full post with background: About a year ago, in a post about Infracorder John T Haller indicated that there was likely to be a once for all final bargain basement wrap up sale of things that work with Windows 98 before the OS was evicted from this site for good.

Can PortableApps.com look into the portable app end of the INability to create DVD-VIdeo discs so they play in STANDALONE players with the polished interactive disc MENUs, i.e. : SPOKEN LANGUAGES & SUBTITLES, CHAPTER SELECTIONS, BONUS MATERIALS, etc???

Thanks!!

Notepad++ 5.6.8 Rev 2 locks out customizations

Submitted by sidtheduck on April 1, 2010 - 4:35pm

I recently installed the Notepad++ 5.6.8 Rev 2 portable version and have the FTP_synchronize and Functionlist plugins installed. I've noticed that on occasion (if closing Notepad++ and re-opening quickly) that the customizations get locked out and I lose syntax highlighting, my FTP accounts, and my custom function searches. They stay that way no matter if I close Notepad++ and restart again.

Portable Skype in Windows 7 taskbar

Submitted by richlipps on March 31, 2010 - 3:55pm

Hi, I have been using Skype Portable for a few months - great app, thanks very much to you guys for making this available. I have a question on its behavior on Windows 7: My implementation is a set up with a shortcut on my Windows 7 taskbar from which I would launch the program. This was associated to the skypeportable.exe file in my directory on my removable drive that I would take between the three computers I regularly use. So on each I have a shortcut on the taskbar, which I would click to launch the program.

Running a program with command line switches

Submitted by BravoMike on March 31, 2010 - 7:14am

Hi there

I recently installed Google Chrome Portable and I am trying to run it with a command switch to configure the proxy server settings as I dont have Admin access on my PC.

I have tried to run the executable in the \GoogleChromePortable\App\Chrome-bin directory but it wont open with or without switches.

I have also tried adding the switch into the GoogleChromePortable.ini file in the
Google ChromeExecutable=chrome.exe line but with no luck.

Does XnView really need portablization?

Submitted by chrizio on March 31, 2010 - 3:11am

For plenty of years I'm have an portable installation of XnView
on each optical media with my photos.
It works pretty well.
However, I didn't never check how is its coexistence with the local installation on PC.
In exact the same way I have installed this app to my pen drive.
Just a copy of all binaries, plug-ins, add-ons and init files to
pen drive.
Why is the XnView Portable then necessary for?
