Attempting to install an extension just results in trying to download a .crx file, which is otherwise not recognised.

When I first installed Portable Chrome, I also installed a number of extensions, which it handled in the same smooth, integrated way as 'regular' Chrome. Then, sometime later, I tried to install another and all it did was try to download a crx file which is otherwise not recognised. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Downloaded from 3-different locations, MD5 checksum is good, gets through language selection, then ends with "problem encountered error and asks to send error report to Microsoft.

Is this just me or are others having this trouble too?

Using Win-XP on Acer AspireOne.

I installed 5.6.8 Notepad++ and it provides the usual "Run" menu of Launch in Firefox, Launch in IE, Launch in Chrome, Launch in Safari, etc.

I received the notification to update FTP_synchronize and performed the update.
After doing that process, the only showing up on the "Run" menu is "Run". All other options have disappeared.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I have been using these two portable apps for a little while now and assumed that I would be able to debug application that I was building with C::B through mingw. When I try to start a debug session I get an error saying that the debugger executable is not set go to setting -> programs tab to set. I go there and look and it is set as I had expected to gdb as I have linked C::B to mingw and have been to this page before. On closer inspection it appears that gdb is not installed as part of mingw unlike every other executable on that tab.

Using PChatPortable 1.0.3 on Windows 7 64-bit.
Installed as both admin and user.
Program run as both admin and user.

When started, PChatPortable provides a long list of servers, but fails to create servlist_.conf (XChat2 server list), thus no changes to the server list are stored between sessions.

However, PChatPortable will successfully use servlist_.conf copied from XChatPortable into Data/settings between sessions.

Eraser.exe in Eraser Portable 5.8.8 has a bad digital signature.

I downloaded both 5.8.8 binaries from eraser.heidi.ie and the digital signatures for both copies of eraser.exe are valid from there.

Comments? Did eraser.heidi.ie host a bad download in the past and silently correct it? Was eraser.exe edited, corrupted, or infected by portableapps.com?

I just installed InfraRecorder Portable 0.50 Revision 3, and now InfraRecorder won't remember its settings. No matter how many times I maximize the window and adjust the preferences, when I close down IR and restart it, any customizations are lost. And yes, before you ask, this is a completely clean install of IRP.

Thankfully InfraRecorder doesn't have many options so it's not a huge issue, but it's still a regression and should be fixed. These revisions need more pre-release testing, methinks.

I am successfully using an older PortableApps.com version of Dia Portable v0.97 with Win7. Downloading and trying to run the latest 0.97.1-1 fails to open.

After installing, when trying to run, a few boxes open, many with no text.
Dia Warning (title of window) no text inside
diaw.exe has stopped working (window)
Diagram1.dia (window) blank white screen

reverting to the older 0.97 version works just fine.

I have not tried it under a different OS.

I am traveling to Europe and only want to bring one laptop with me. I work for the US gov't and the IT police scan periodically for social networking software including Skype. I have been busted for this and removed Skype from my work laptop. When I use my PC outside the office, I can use the office VPN, or operate without. My question is this: If I am connected to the net and using Portable Skype without VPN, is there anyway the work IT police can detect that Skype has been used on the machine? Does Portable Skype leave any traces once the application is disconnected from the PC?
