Google Chrome sandboxed

Submitted by Jeroen Mulder on February 17, 2010 - 3:27am

I'm trying to start Google Chrome Portable from the PortableApps startmenu. The browser is starting, but because it's sandboxed it doesn't connect to the internet. I can make a shortcut with the --no-sandbox option, that works, but only not in the PortableApps startmenu.
Is there a way to fix this?

Trillian Portable

Submitted by varxtis on February 15, 2010 - 1:54am

Ive been trying to find a portable version of Trillian Astra Pro, but cant seem to find it here at PA. Ive tried to Install Trillian, log-in, close, then copy Program Files\Trillian directory to my jump drive, remove jump-drive, and then uninstall trillian. And it works, but only on the system it was originally install on. I found a link at [name removed] for TAP portable([link removed]), but Norton is saying there is a Trojan Horse. Can anyone confirm if this is a legit program, or Inform me on how to get a portable version of Trillian Astra Pro?

Eraser doesn't work on the recycle bin

Submitted by Megafrog on February 12, 2010 - 3:08pm

I believed I had posted this already but it did not show up in the forums at all. I apologize if this becomes a double post.

I can't get Eraser Portable to work on the recycle bin. I try the -recylced option through a shortcut but it doesn't say "erase the recycle bin" anywhere, not even with a right click. I even went to see if I try -recycle without the "d" but that doesn't work either.

This is the latest version of Eraser Portable running direct from the hard drive on a Vista x64 machine. Thanks!

Chrome issues

Submitted by Mike L. on February 11, 2010 - 9:44pm

I just downloaded and installed Google Chrome Portable on my USB drive, using the default path. At work, I was not allowed to set the proxy server to connect to the net (I'm able to make such changes in Firefox Portable); we're using Vista Enterprise there, and got a message saying that I needed to be an administrator to change the proxy settings. So I tried setting it on my home PC instead (Windows XP, using an admin account), and found that it changed the proxy for my locally installed copy of Chrome as well.

Force compatibility mode

Submitted by Incubusattax on February 5, 2010 - 9:24am

Hello guys,

Is there any way to force compatibility mode of an exe?
I got an exe on the portable app stick that runs fine under XP but in Vista and Windows 7 it only runs under XP compatibility mode.
Is there a way that I can force to start the exe in XP mode because it seems that when I insert the stick in another system, the compatibility mode isn't remembered.

Thanks in advance!
Cheers
