AssaultCube-Extremely low FPS-worked fine before

Submitted by Lord_Theren on August 17, 2014 - 9:22pm

A few years ago before I had internet and before I became a regular PortableApps user, I downloaded AssaultCubePortable and ran smoothly on my old desktop. But fairly recently my FPS will not go higher than 3-4. I have no idea what caused this massive FPS drop. If anyone can help me, I would be very grateful. If anyone is interested I will post my PC specs. Thank you!

TAudioConverter

Submitted by hevanr on August 12, 2014 - 11:42am

TAudioConverter has 2 files which Symantec Antivirus keeps extracting and removing from my drive. Both renametool.exe and TTager.exe, are being labeled "Risk type: Virus, Risk: Trojan.Gen.SMH." Symantec says this "is a generic detection for many individual but varied Trojans for which specific definitions have not been created."

Policies above my control will not allow me to re-download TAudioConverter from Source Forge; and I don't have access to the quarantined and cleaned files, so I cant analyze them with other tools. Perhaps this ID is just a lapse on Symantec's part...

Portable Skype always fails to install

Submitted by raumirn on August 6, 2014 - 8:25pm

For all the times I've tried, I cannot get Portable Skype to install. It always says,
"The installer was unable to download Skype. The installation of the portable app will be incomplete without it. Please try installing again. (ERROR: SendRequest Error)"
And I've tried it like 12-15 times. I'm pretty desperate at this point, and I have no other usable computer besides my grandpa's.
Any help would be appreciated. I do have USB drives.

Edit: My grandpa certainly isn't tech-savvy enough to set up any blocks on our network.
I live in America.

Chrome Invalid Server Certificate

Submitted by north450 on August 6, 2014 - 7:19pm

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/

www.mozilla.org normally uses encryption (SSL) to protect your information. When Chrome tried to connect to www.mozilla.org this time, www.mozilla.org returned unusual and incorrect credentials. Either an attacker is trying to pretend to be www.mozilla.org, or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Chrome stopped the connection before any data was exchanged.

mmex (moneymanagerex) is trying to access the internet after updated version

Submitted by play2win on August 4, 2014 - 5:49pm

today after portableapps indicated a new version of moneymanagerex (mmex) the software attempted to access the internet. My firewall caught this activity. I have been using this for years and assumed it was safe. Can someone please check in to this. I hope this program is secure and the authors are not data mining with it from the version here on portableapps. Thanks.
