U3 Support for Firefox and Thunderbird

Submitted by TheFreak on March 21, 2007 - 3:29am

I know you stated something abotu re-evaluating U3 Support for the products due to low demand, so I just wanted to give a positiv feedback, and hope to get FF 2.0 for U3 due to ending support of patches for the 1.05 tree.

I really like having FF and Thunderbird on my U3 stick and Im using it every day and it works very nice for me- but now im worried about having to use an out of date version of FF1 because there is not FF 2 U3 version and the only one who tried to support that did not get a licence to do so Sad

SignUp Shield not working with FF 1.5.07 for U3

Submitted by nodric on March 6, 2007 - 3:07am

I am using Signup Shield as supplied on a Sandisk U3 stick. Its fully updated and works fine using FF or IE etc on the host PC.

When running FF from the U3 stick the integration in the browser is missing and it does not detect when I am entering passwords etc and so does not popup offering to save them.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Various Difficulties with U3

Submitted by Miles on February 25, 2007 - 10:09am

This is a list of various difficulties encountered over two months in Thailand using U3 with Avast. And using FF & TB portable versions, not U3 versions because portable had the latest versions available.

1) TBP: Lost the file mail/msgFilterRules.dat 3 times, 14kb reduced to 1kb. Had to copy in from a backup thumb drive.

2) On every public computer need to go into WinExpl/tools/folder options/view and check display contents of system folders & show hidden files. Else cannot view removable disk (I:)/system/apps/ with it's FF & TB portable exe files to start the programs.

Strange problem with firefox

Submitted by Soren on February 23, 2007 - 11:04pm

I was using my Firefox portable when it told me to update, which i did. When i updated and restarted firefox portable, it never opened up again. When i try to open up the program manually, it says "An error has occurred while trying to launch this application." When i try to uninstall it, it just tells me "uninstall of firefox_u3_1.5.70_en-us.u3p failed." I can no longer safely eject my usb drive now since it says theres an application running still. Any suggestions?

U3 CDROM partition use

Submitted by charlec on February 23, 2007 - 3:55pm

Hi all

I've got a U3 drive and have replaced the standard CDROM image with a autorun.inf file that runs a little program I wrote that calls a startup.bat file on the normal partition. This way I can autostart portable apps menu or anything else I want. Normally I just have it to start EPIM Pro Portable.

What else could I do with the extra space in the first partition? and what do you think is the best way to implement a basic level of security to my data?

Thanks in advance!
