U3 Apps (Discontinued)

Firefox, Thunderbird and OpenOffice.org for U3 by PortableApps.com

Version 2.0.0.4 wont run on Windows 2000

Submitted by tom61photo on July 8, 2007 - 9:42pm

On a recent vacation I had no problem using Firefox USB (U3)on standalone PCs but it would crash when trying to use networked PCs running Windows 2000 at internet cafes. At one location the owner disabled something in Windows and, after re-booting the computer, Firefox was OK. Was this simply a security/firewall problem?

[Solution] Creating AutoHotKey hotkey/shorcut to Portable Firefox U3

Submitted by mybootorg on July 6, 2007 - 9:22am

I've searched far and wide on the web, on this forum and the forums of Autohotkey and can't seem to find an answer to this.

I use Autohotkey on all of my computers and love having my favorite programs or actions a few key presses away. I'd love to extend this to being able to launch Firefox Portable from my flashdrive.

Problem is, by looking at all the executables involved, and they way they kick off in the manifest, I can't see any easy way to accomplish this.

Has anyone else found a solution? Or have a suggestion?

Thanks.

Security

I love portable apps and have no need for U3 programs. However, i like the security that U3 offers. Is there another security option that can be used with portable apps?

Firefox and Cruzer Contour Help

Submitted by johnyu3 on June 26, 2007 - 6:39am

I have a new Sandisk Cruzer Contour 8gb.....I installed Firefox 2.004 and also installed a few add-on's through Mozilla's website. Well I use my contour on a few different computers and everytime I plug into a different computer firefox resets itself and I lose all of my settings and I can't see my add-on's.
The same thing happens with Google toolbar. When I plug into a different PC i lose the toolbar.

U3.com lists Firefox v2.0.0.3 - is it yours?

Submitted by yuvmel on June 7, 2007 - 5:12am

Hi John,
Thank you for all the great packages so far!

Seen v2.0.0.3 on the U3 website w/o being mentioned here...is it yours really?

Currently I'm using v1.5.0.12 - I've updated it by its own interface after installing your v1.5.0.7 package and it SEEMS fine - will this v2.0.0.3 for U3 update into v2.0.0.4 easily as well?
