How to update Firefox for U3

Submitted by Ne0nguy on February 19, 2007 - 8:04am

I realize it is not legal for anyone to offer a download for Firefox 2 U3 and U3 isnt really supported on this site, but if anyone knows how to do this it is you guys.
So to dodge around the system a little, can someone explain how to upgrade Firefox U3 to Firefox 2 U3?

I remember something similar to this happened with Portable Skype and all we had to do was copy the updated executable into the portable folder. Will the same work for Firefox?

Thanks,

BUG in Firefox U3?

Submitted by KlausGahan on February 12, 2007 - 6:19am

Hallo everybody!
My 1st post here...
I've tried to find something about what I'm looking for, but seem I found nothing...so, I'm opening a new post, trying to write more information as possible.

I'm using a U3 SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4GB, and I've seen that when Firefox is not running and I click on a link from another application (ex.: a link in a Thunderbird-U3 message), it lost anything of his settings (bookmarks and extension), that works perfectly again if I copy the adress from the adress-bar, close Firefox and restart it from the U3 launchpad.

U3 Thunderbird

I have been using thunderbird portable for quite a while now. Everytime I switch it to a new flash drive I can easily move my profile folder from the old drive to the new drive and I have all my e-mail accounts, saved e-mails, contacts lists etc...all on the new drive. I do this by copying the profile folder from the old flash drive to the new drive......its found in X:thunderbirdportable\data\profile. I have recently purchased U3 smart drive that has thurnderbird listed on the app launcher.

Thinking about U3? Think again...

About 2 weeks ago I went into Wal-Mart and bought 2 SanDisk Cruzer 2.0gb U3 drives for $79.99 each. The drive worked beautifully without a problem. I spent quite a bit of money on some U3 apps (Zoom Media Player, Signupshield, Solitaire, Invaders, WinRAR for U3, and Arcade Lines). Again all had worked well. The only gripe I had was I kept asking when Firefox 2.0 was coming out for U3. Well just last week I had pre-ordered and on release received Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. My U3 drives didn't work at all on Windows Vista.

Shockwave

Tried to install Shockwave as described but , after starting installation the program installed to my IE browser on my desktop not to Firefox on my U3 drive , which was plugged in and active at the time. In installation instructions it stated to wait for :
# Run the installation routine and, instead of letting it install to a local browser, select to choose your browser
# Browse to X:\System\Apps\3C9F7B3F-D55C-42cd-8537-B878518B73AF\Exec\firefox (where X is your U3 device's driver letter) and continue with the installation

But I never was asked to choose browser.
