Thunderbird U3 and Vista

Submitted by jasoneu on April 11, 2007 - 10:37am

I recently upgraded my U3 driver to 1.4, but I am still having a hard time running Thunderbird U3. First of all, the autostart can't find thunderbird.exe, and when I go in and run thunderbird.exe, the program acts like a clean install (i.e. prompts me to create a new account and won't show my other accounts). Any help with getting my thunderbird to work?

P.S. this is for my new Vista laptop

Downloading a language pack

To download a language pack:

1. Go to: http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/
2. Go to the directory there for the Mozilla application you want to change—for example: thunderbird
3. Go to the releases directory.

For those who use Packagefactory for U3

If you use the free version of Packagefactory for U3, you know that "U3 build by Eure.ca" is added your program's description. I have figured out a way to remove this "tag" for those that do not want it. Here's how:

First, go to My Computer, Tools>Folder Options, and select the View tab, and make sure that "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked. If it is, uncheck it and click ok.

Portable Harddrive to run Portable & U3 applications

Submitted by eturfboer on April 5, 2007 - 7:27am

Hello all,

I am currently a user of the portable application suite. I realy like it. However, as some have concerns (so di I) about the number of writes one can do on flash memory I would like to be able to install the portable application software on a portable harddrive. I know that is posible, however I have some applications from U3 and what I do want to know if it is posible to run U3 applications from a non U3 device, whilst there are only flash drives available.

Summary: Is it posible to run U3 application on a non-U3 device (portable harddisk)?

Thanks for any help at all,
