Had to uninstall

Submitted by hokeypokey on August 19, 2011 - 7:48am

Hi folks,

Regretfully, I had to uninstall portable apps, RedNotebook Portable and ClamWin Portable.

I believe they were conflicting with the system since I did not have these problems prior to installation.

I am using CCleaner, Advanced System Care and Defraggler by Piriform.

When these programs are executed, they crash and go into a re-boot.

These problems are now gone.

I am using Windows 7 on a 64-bit system.

Sorry,

Tom Strang

SourceForge offerings

Submitted by J Neutron on August 17, 2011 - 6:19am

When I went to download a ThunderbirdPortable today, SourceForge told me that I might like "PortableApps.com Extras". I checked it out, and the page is called "PortableApps.com Extras by sag47" and it contains some "portable" programs.

This sounds like infringement and something that SourceForge shouldn't permit.

Is there a search function in PA.c?

Submitted by malaise on August 16, 2011 - 8:18pm

I want to search for installations gone awry, eg put in the wrong folder assumed at the root of the drive etc and then cut and paste them to the right place.

I can see "search this drive" etc but not this function to manage portable installations so since this is beta can we have this feature included next time?

Platform v2 "Auto..."-options or Solutions round about TrueCrypt and many ohers ...

Submitted by Joa on August 16, 2011 - 7:33am

Hi,

I am a Newbie about PortableApps ;).

In the past, I used PortableApps platform with GeekMenu to have Categories and the option to use TrueCrypt. Or I used my own AutoIt-Script.

My AutoIt-Script is a working solution, but not perfect.
It does the following steps with the actually PA platform:

Thoughts on Multilingual (live) Firefox Portable Installer

I'm debating switching the Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition installer over to a live installer. It's multilingual and able to download the appropriate locale of Firefox based on installer language and get the appropriate files out for use. The launcher picks the appropriate supported language to show in as well based on installed locale of the ones we support for the launcher (or English if in a locale Firefox supports but the launcher doesn't) for messages like "Firefox is already running...", etc.

Bundling, Distribution, and Copyright Questions

Submitted by mssor2009 on August 15, 2011 - 6:26pm

Hello,

I would like distribute to several internal users a zipped bundle containing a locked down version of portable Firefox. Are there any copyright or licensing concerns with PortableApps or Mozilla if I were to do so? I'm especially concerned over the "unaltered binary installer" clause on this site's copyright statement and and Mozilla's distribution policy from "http://www.mozilla.org/foundation/trademarks/distribution-policy.html".

PA installation on non-USB devices

Submitted by erospeterson on August 11, 2011 - 2:10pm

Hello all!

FYI my philosophy is that the dumbest question is the one that isn't asked, so you've all been warned! LOL!

Seriously though, I haven't spotted any information here with regards to installing PA on other devices such as an SD/CF card etc. Are there any instructions available or did I miss something when I was searching around?

Cheers,
Eros
