Is it possible that the code can be integrated in this way, or must we have the same boring menu here forever and a day.
I have a mixture of applications packaged for PortableApps and applications which are portable but have not been packaged for the PortableApps platform. When installing the stand-alone applications I followed the instructions here about creating a folder below the PortableApps folder and installing all of the run-time files there.
The current platform release has lots of great new features, but there are still a lot of requested/planned features that have not been added.
Here's a short list of some that I've seen recently:
1. Categories
2. File Associations
3. App Updater
4. Portable Fonts
5. Custom Folders
6. Re-ordering apps
While we are waiting for these to be implemented, we can use other "add-ons" and tricks to make the Platform do what we want.
Here's my list of how I've dealt with these things:
1. Categories
One of the more requested enhancements to the PA platform is the addition of more folder shortcuts, other than the default Documents, Music, Pictures, Video, and Explore.
While you can't add them to the same right-hand side of the platform yet, it is easy to make shortcuts to folders in with the app shortcuts.
This example makes shortcuts to two custom subfolders of Documents: Web Pages and Work.
First create your subfolders:
X:\Documents\WebPages X:\Documents\Work
Then create the following folder structure:
X:\PortableApps\Folders\App\Appinfo
When I read the environment variables for the above two languages, they all return the English values.
1.5.2. and 2.0 Beta 3
I installed the suite onto the hard drive
and it works fine except some apps that have error messages.. and after consultation in the chat room i burnt a cd and had lot more probs..

One thing I don't like about the way the platform handles multiple-icon apps is the way it handles custom parameters. Using AppNamePortable.ini's AdditionalParameters field appends those parameters to all of the icons. Also, it might be conceivable that it might be useful to have two icons both pointing to the same executable with different parameters. I've tried adding parameters to the end of the Start field of appinfo.ini, but that doesn't work. The ability to use custom parameters should be added into appinfo.ini on an icon-by-icon basis (i.e. Name1, Start1, Parameters1, etc).
I have a custom theme that i'd like to show off, but I can't take a screenshot of the platform, because it hides itself before I get a chance. I use lightscreen portable at the moment.
Good day to all!
I have the older versions of the PA Suite that has only the "X" button in the lower right hand corner of the platform on two seperate USB jump drives. Both drives have different apps (one for office, one for home).
Recently, I noticed the newer version of the platforms have an extra "-" button added. When I tried to swap platforms just for the extra button I wound up having to reinstall all the apps again.
Is there a way to do this without reinstalling all the apps previously installed?
I've noticed there are a few discrepancies in the language codes between 1.5.2 and 2.0. A couple of them are just the 'Name' (which I don't think is important) but a few of the other codes have changed too (French and German for instance) which breaks the language switching.
Rather than list them here, I've uploaded a document I created in Notepad++, noting the changes. Perhaps one of the language experts here could look at it and check what's right and what's wrong.
