Toucan 3.0.2.0 does not encrypt files with language set to German

Submitted by stek on July 23, 2010 - 8:30am

Toucan 3.0.2.0, WinXP SP3

When the language is set to German, on the tab "Sichern" (Secure), Verschlüsseln (Encrypt) and Entschlüsseln (Decrypt) both call the function decrypt. So, encyption is not possible anymore.

Furthermore encryption and decryption does not work anymore like it was in e.g. Toucan 2.1.2.0, if you just add file(s) to the right pane and select encrypt or decrypt just nothing happens.

If you add a folder with files in it to the right pane, then encryption and decryption works for those files in that folder.

Still problems with 3.0.2

Submitted by FoxyStrut on July 23, 2010 - 6:20am

Hi --

I still have the same problems as with all the previous (pre-release or not) 3.0 issues: I use the "mirror" option in sync mode. Files that do not exist anymore in the source directory are not deleted in the destination directory, while they should be. Back to 2.2.1 Sad

(by the way, while I'm here, the help in versions 2.x was better -- no need to read the html files within a browser)

-cheers-

[Toucan v3.0.1/2pre] Same sync manipulation as Toucan 2 but "The source path must not be empty".

Hi!

I use to sync my folders with Toucan 2 in mirror mode.

I have a network folder in my work PC that i sync every day with my usb key.

I want the folder on the usb key to be up-to-date, so i use the mirror function with "Network Folder" > "USB Key.

Options are:
- Function: Mirror
- File checks: File size & Modified time (but i don't really know what are the best options)
- Other: Retain timestamp & attributes

Toucan 3.0.1 Log file

Submitted by crishog on July 19, 2010 - 6:52am

I run quite a few Toucan command line jobs.

I've upgraded to 3.0.1 & added the new --job= & --logfile= switches, for example

--logfile=WorkingDocuments.txt --job=WorkingDocuments

The jobs run OK, but the log file created in the Data directory is empty. Even if I specify a full path, it's no different. If I run the job from the GUI I get a normal progress window. If I don't set --logfile I get no log at all, not even an empty one.

Am I doing something particularly dim or is there an issue with Toucan log files?

Chris

Problems with 3.0.2

Submitted by richardjf on July 2, 2010 - 10:44am

Steve,

Thanks for the updated version, but there are still some issues with it, mostly relating to Preview in my limited testing.

It appears you are now auto-expanding the Destination folder, but NOT the Source folder. I know I can double-click it, but seeing as that is what EVERY user would end up doing, it really seems to make more sense for the program to do it automatically (as it does with Destination!).

Some strange behavior. Follow the steps below:

- Set up two test folders - 3 files in source folder, none in destination folder
- Load Toucan
- Click Sync tab

7-zip anti-items

Submitted by jwaxman on June 28, 2010 - 8:39pm

7-zip has the capability to create differential backups containing 'anti-items'.
When this option is used files that are not in the latest version of the source directory but are in the baseline archive are recorded in the differential archive in such a way that when unpacked they can allow restoration of an accurate snapshot.

This allows 7-zip to create archives that function in a manner similar to Linux's rsnapshot or Mac's Time Machine.

The documentation for this is here.
