Trojan.Pakes inside Toucan?

Submitted by Anarion on January 1, 2009 - 7:02pm

Spyware Doctor found high risk infection "Trojan.Pakes" in file "cygwin1.dll" in folder: "PortableApps\Toucan\App\toucan".
All I can se is that "cygwin1.dll" is product of Red Hat company from year 2004 and
Trojan.Pakes is product of Integrated Search Technologies (IST).

Would it be possible to include some preset rules/portable varuables for when using multiple pcs. For the less knowledgable users maybe include some baisc variables/rules for if a pc had different drive letters or such.

all backed up files are hidden away as protected operating system files?

This is a funky issue I have never run across before...

While i have used other backup utilities before, I have never used toucan. Toucan seems pretty straight forward.

I have googled and searched the PA forums and have not found a similar issue. I just cannot figure it out!

Using Toucan I backed up files from a computer (~30 gb) to an external tape drive (haha... yes, 120gb, a tape drive). I made sure the file/folder sizes matched and then reformatted the computer. The files are mostly standard documents, pictures, and videos. that have been collected over life.

Volume name?

Would it be possible to include a portable variable for the volume name of a drive in the next release? E.g. @volume@. This would be useful in naming backup files.

Thanks!

BTW: Very nice app.

Sync problem

Submitted by tsiepmann on December 25, 2008 - 3:01pm

I have a problem with synchronizing two specific files.
The first is the keepass database (name: Sp.kdb) which is stored in the documents directory within the portableapps folder structure.
The second file is a rohos disk file (name: EncryptedDisk.rdi) which resides in the same folder.

Both files are not read-only neither hidden or compressed.
Toucan job settings:
- Equalise
- Other: nothing checked
- no rules
- no variables

All other files and folders are being synchronized perfectly. What am I doing wrong?

Keep Settings

Submitted by Frank D. Hubeny on December 19, 2008 - 7:30am

Would you consider in a future release having Tucan keep a persons selected settings. Now you need to save a job. As an example I use sync, copy, mirror. Each time I go back I have to recheck this option and others I may wish to use like ignore read only and the others on the page.

Newbie_sync interface unknown button

Submitted by mike.jacobson on December 18, 2008 - 4:47pm

Hi, I've searched for a while to find the answer to this one and pressed the button but its use is not really clear. On the sync screen it's the button between the two windows and also on the right of the right hand frame. It looks like a magnifying glass over a folder which would suggest a search. When I press it, the filenames in the window to the left of the button disappear and the scroll bar 'thing' shoots wildly up and down. I've never waited longer than about 20 seconds before I lost courage and halted the process. What is it for? (sorry if this is a dumb question)

Secure: There was an error reading form the jobs file

Submitted by hlqes on December 15, 2008 - 6:53am

Hello,
when I've created a new job in the secure tab and try to select this job, I also get the following error:
There was an error reading form the jobs file,
please check it is not set as read only or in use.

I don't have this problem in the other tabs e.g. Backup.
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks!
