Toucan 2.0.2 w/ write protected drive

Submitted by Rezer on November 12, 2008 - 4:59pm

I've just upgraded to 2.0.2, and noticed toucan when run in a command line now throws up errors if the drive it's being run from is write protected. It's only trying to write to a few ini files, so everything still works, but the message boxes are kind of a deal breaker. Is there any plan to fix this behavior in future versions?

Sloooowww + other issues

Hi!

I really love the idea of Toucan. It's simple easy to use, gives access to saved/copied files even if the backup program is not at hand that's what I was looking for!
I've run a few tests and have to say, for now, I'll stick with DriveImage XML (tough it does not give the easy file access).

Reasons:

Toucan is to slow!

Hi

I am running toucan portable 2.0.1 and it is to slow!
I am trying to backup to a Gigabit NAS - about 44.000 files in 6.000 folders need to be checked for there date: Even the ckecking takes about 3 hours!
Maybe you should create a database where the dates (timestamp) of the files in the backup directory is stored and compare this to the date (timestamp) of the files from the source.

Few issues

Your prog is amazing, however, I've encountered a few issues,
1) Folder or filename that include "@" is not support
2) I used *ride*.mp3 for in Files to exclude rule for filenames like - "01 ride with me part1.mp3", it will generate "Regex error" box with infinite loop, I had to terminate the program through taskmgr.
3) If I used ride*.mp3 for "01 ride with me part2.mp3", it doesn't exclude the file.

I have to put only "ride" in Files to exclude rule in order to exclude the files.

Thank you for your hard work!

hello,

first thanks for this great application.
i used it in several ways till now and i get it always to work. now i like to do a command line backup and it won't work.

here is the commandline:
Toucan Backup Z:\test\Backup\Week%week% "D:\test\Eigene Dateien\BackupScripts\BACKUP.TXT" Complete 7-Zip 7 ExcludeList pwd pwd

i tryed it with the last stable and the last beta version. the exclude resp. include list is generated correctly, but no backup happens.

here is the output:
----------------------------------------------
Willkommen zum Toucan Kommandozeilen-System.

OK, so I know this topic has been discussed a little bit on this forum already, and I've read all those threads already and have done what I'm supposed to do, but I'm still having troubles.

I'm trying to make a .bat file that runs a Backup, via a Script, in Toucan. Easy enough. My .bat file looks like this:

X:\...\Toucan\App\toucan\toucan.exe Script "ScriptName"
PAUSE

Help with Toucan and file Recovery

Submitted by xattitudex43 on October 17, 2008 - 1:30pm

Hello Everyone, this is my first post so be nice!

Last Night I finished my coursework and I always work off my USB Portable HDD. After saving the documents, this morning I went to my college, plugged the drive in as usual and synchronised with toucan. In the log it shows all appears to be fine. It shops it has copied the files over and vice versa.

The problem I am having is that it has deleted these new files. When I went to search for them, it has deleted the whole folder containing word documents off the Portable HDD and the Drive I Sync'ed to.
