Hi Steve

I've been using Toucan for some time now and quite like it. However I recall a while back, I think October 2008, I did a large sync job in which I copied about 50 GB of data which consisted of everything from apps, to mp3s, to images, and study files. I recall some things didn't copy over correctly back then eg. for one of the music albums Toucan copied the folder over but none of the contents Sad

Forward commandline output to a file

Submitted by vince@cmic.ca on January 22, 2009 - 1:06pm

First off. What A WONDERFUL LITTLE program. Toucan is amazing.

Can someone please help with this:
I trying to forward the out of a backup job to a file but it never works.

This is what I have...

C:\Documents and Settings\vince\Desktop\Toucan\App\toucan>Toucan backup > log.txt

But the log file is always empty. The wierd thing is it still outputs as normal.

But if I do:

C:\Documents and Settings\vince\Desktop\Toucan\App\toucan>ipconfig > log.txt

This works perfectly fine.

Could someone PLEASE help me out?

Urgent Issue with Most Recent Installer

Submitted by TrekCaptainUSA on January 18, 2009 - 12:34pm

Before I even clicked download, Kaspersky Internet Security detected malware in the most recent installer for Toucan.

It detected the following malware:
malware Hoax.Win32.Agent.hr

Any reason the installer contains malware?

Changelog?

Submitted by hansen on January 16, 2009 - 5:22am

Hi,

I'm the happy user of Toucan. It's being used several places. Simple and easy!

But I really wish there was a changelog.

I had a bad experience with a change some time ago, so it would be really nice if there were information about version changes.

Right now it looks like a minor change 2.0.3 to 2.0.4, but I can see that 2.0.4 doesn't work in Win98, so it seems like there have been quite a few changes.

Thanks for a great product!

Daily Backups

Sorry if this is posted, and I just am not seeing it, but...

I know toucan can be run with command line variables, and there are built in variables for sync/backup, etc... so I can backup files every day to a new folder. What I would like to do, even if it doesn't use the date, but a numbering system of some sort, would be so save ## number of backups only...

example: 3 daily backups

day 1 - Monday files backed up
day 2 - Tuesday files backed up
day 3 - Wednesday files backed up
day 4 - Thursday files backed up, Monday files deleted

Restoring A Toucan Backup

Submitted by sgk5765 on January 9, 2009 - 3:23pm

I did a backup of my Portable Apps and documents from a large True Crypt file on a USB hard drive to my PC's Drive C. It's 35GBs of data, and it took over 24 hours to backup.

Now, I am trying to "restore" my backup to my USB hard drive, but all that I see is the following:
