Editing of PDF documents

Submitted by tapsklaps on April 14, 2011 - 6:40pm

Since the version 3.3 of LibreOffice Portable Draw it's now possible to import and modify PDF documents. This is possible because of the already contained PDF Import extension (look at Tools -> Extension Manager). In older versions this extension had to be installed.

After I've imported a PDF file, I had to find that some symbols of the original document were not imported correctly. For example, arrows and check boxes were replaced by strange characters. Probably the above-mentioned extension is responsible for this error. Or knows someone a solution for this problem?

LibreOffice (3.3.2 Final) Optimal Settings for G.T.D. (getting things done)

Hi there,

On the page of many PortableApps.com apps there is a tutorial for the best settings to optimize running the application as smoothly and fast as possible. The portable Firefox page has such a Tut linked to it. What I'd like to ask if it is possible to create such a Tut for LibreOffice portable too.
What I'd like to know is whether to enable or disable features such as usage of cache memory, enabling recording of last used projects etc. How should the settings be for best possible performance ? Especially startup time of LOo is very long right now.

LibreOffice Language Issue?

Submitted by fireclaw on April 7, 2011 - 8:44am

I install LibreOffice Portable 3.3.2 set language to "Chinese(Simplified)"
Install complete
But I found the program interface is Chinese, but dialog language is English(e.g. click "Tools -> Options" pop up the dialog box's language is English)
Is LibreOffice Portable Language issue or I set up is wrong?

Hi, I am very pleased that you are also supporting LibreOffice on PortableApps.com ! And it's very nice you provide us with a multi-lingual version. But I do have some issues with it, and ofcourse they were to be expected. It's not criticism but please see it as feedback for improvements.

1) LibreOffice is much slower starting up then OpenOffice. I don't know why since it is based on OpenOffice.

I like to report on my findings while upgrading LibreOffice 3.3.1 to 3.3.2 :

Data merge crash

Submitted by EOBeav on April 1, 2011 - 12:01pm

I've tested this problem in both the stable version of LO (3.3.2) as well as the most recent stable PortableApps version (3.3.2). This bug is only happening in the PortableApps version.

The problem is this: LO Portable crashes when printing a Writer document with merged data to a .pdf file. The document just freezes up, for several minutes, and I have to manually close the program and use document recovery to get it back. I've looked here in the forums and haven't come across the problem. Is this a known bug? Please let me know if I need to file something beyond this point.

Mega strange folders & files created

Submitted by cassini on March 31, 2011 - 5:34pm

Hi,

Some time ago I installed L.O. Portable 3.3.0 on USB.
It seems to have created a big troop of files & folders in:
G:\PortableApps\LibreOfficePortable_3.3.0\LibreOfficePortable\Data\temp\svp.tmp

I cannot delete them because they all contain "forbidden" characters like /\:*?"| and more of that.
Windows file manager says: 'Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk'
Also their filesize and dates of modification are absurd (some are of 1601/01/01 !)
Does anyone know how to delete them ?

Crashed

Scrolling through Files menu sometimes lets it freeze on "Send" and begin a "Due to an unexpected error, LibreOffice crashed..." and "JRE Required" event. Unchecking the "Use Java runtime environment" in Options wasn't enough.
