LibreOffice Portable

On language selection

Submitted by Geddich Nixan on March 30, 2011 - 3:17pm

I downloaded the recent version of LibreOfficePortabel (3.3.2) and thought it was a great feature that I could choose which languages should be installed. The "one or all" option (i.e. either take only one language or take all of them) was very unsatisfactory for me. However I was quite disappointed to see that the new language selection only offers the options "one or two or all". Would it be possible to include a selection window in the installer where the user could choose those languages he needs?

Installing the Libre Office Help

Submitted by Barley on March 30, 2011 - 12:02pm

The Libre Office Help file is provided at the libreoffice.org site as a separate download.

Though it is a separate (not portable - i.e. there is an uninstall entry created) executable, it works fine with the portable Libre Office, if it is installed to the \LibreOfficePortable\App\libreoffice\ folder.

[Fixed] Experimental language Selection

Thanks for the experimental language selection, it's great.

Here are some folders/files that LOP missed or where users could manually make some careful adjustments to slim the install down (my base language is "Deutsch"):

App\DefaultData\settings\user\config\
App\libreoffice\Basis\presets\config\
App\libreoffice\Basis\program\resource\
App\libreoffice\Basis\share\autocorr
App\libreoffice\Basis\share\basic\Depot
App\libreoffice\Basis\share\registry
App\libreoffice\Basis\share\registry\res
App\libreoffice\Basis\share\template\wizard\letter\
App\libreoffice\program\resource

Question on paths ref Java

Submitted by HarryR on March 14, 2011 - 8:09am

The LibreOffice Portable FAQ says that :
"jPortable, the portable Java runtime, can be installed in one of two locations:

* X:\PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java (Highly Recommended as other apps can use it)*
* with LibreOffice Portable installed to X:\PortableApps\LibreOfficePortable
... "

Does this mean that, if I have LibreOffice Portable installed in :
C:\_My\Apps\PrtPACom\LibreOfficePortable

then it will automatically find jPortable in :
C:\_My\Apps\PrtPACom\CommonFiles\Java

[Fixed] Locale settings are not saved

Submitted by Wamiduku on February 28, 2011 - 12:13pm

The Locale setting in Tools->Options->Language Settings->Languages is not
saved when the locale is different from the user interface language. Every time LibreOffice is started, the selected locale setting is reset
back to the same language as the setting for "User interface".

E.g. if I set the user interface language to "English (USA)" and the locale to
"Swedish (Sweden)", the locale will be set to "English (USA)" the next time I
start LibreOffice.

Is 3.3.1 coming?

Submitted by saronno on February 24, 2011 - 1:26pm

While 3.3.0 portable was released together with the standard libreoffice.org version and also "officially" mentioned in the libreoffice.org site as a result of collaboration between the Document Foundation and PortableApps.com,
things seem to be different with 3.3.1.

I found no mention at all (anywhere) about the same collaboration about the new release; moreover, any Google search for the word "portableapps" in the LibreOffice.org site leads to zero results.
