Submitted by wetabax on December 12, 2019 - 9:54am

Hi People,
does anybody know a program that monitors a specific folder, when it reaches more as a specific size (still configured before) it runs some alarm to alert me?

I hope my question is as good as it could be to understand. Sorry about any mistakes.

7-zip portable & Zstandard

Submitted by peter43 on November 12, 2019 - 2:50pm

over at https://github.com/mcmilk/7-Zip-zstd a codec package is offered, expanding 7-zip functionality by adding zstandard:

You can install it in two ways:

complete setup with additions within the GUI and a modified Explorer context menu
only the codec plugin that goes to your existing 7-Zip installation (no GUI changes and no additional Hashers)

now i have been trying to get 7-zip portable running with the additional zstd.dlls, unfortunately without any luck so far.

jPortable launcher and OpenJDKJRE64 does not work

Submitted by djnavas on November 11, 2019 - 12:48am

jPortable says: "jPortable launcher cannot be started. You may wish to re-install to fix this issue.
(ERROR: jPortable [https://PortableApps.com/jPortable] could not be found.)"

I wish to run Freeplane in 64 Windows 7, 64 bits. I have installed, jPortable Launcher and OpenJDKJRE64.
jPortable, lacks an executable.

jPortable Launcher cannot be started

Submitted by djc on October 21, 2019 - 6:20pm

Just installed jPortable Launcher and Java under my standard PortableApps directory, but when I invoke "jPortable Launcher" from the menu, this appears:

jPortable Launcher cannot be started. You may wish to re-install to fix this issue. (ERROR: jPortable [https://PortableApps.com/jPortable] could not be found).

But I did remove and re-install them.

What's the magic to use Java here? I want to run a .jar file I've been sent.

iobit not really portable

Submitted by choicevoice on September 9, 2019 - 6:05pm

i think iobit is writing to my disk. i have iobit defrag in portableapps (on my hard drive, not a usb).

i scanned my system for virus' the other day with dr. web cureit. and dr. web reported a pup. iobit is usually detected as a pup, so that was not unusual. but its location was:

c:\windows\system32\iobitsmartdefragextension.dll

it is possible i had iobit many years ago installed and this is a leftover from the uninstaller. so i thought i'd post it here so someone else could check if they have it as well.

Putty Portable stand-alone import

Submitted by dave7 on August 26, 2019 - 8:17am

First post and totally new to this process so for give me if this is not the correct location for this question.
Is there a way to import someone's .reg file of putty session settings (full installed version) into the portable putty version that seems to use an i.ini file?
I searched this site and Google; and could not find an answer to this specific scenario.
Thank you
