How to modify ini for multi-user ?

Submitted by hp32SII on February 25, 2020 - 10:58am

Several people here are using Controlpadportable on their pc. I would like to put the file Commands.ini (containing the list of codes and corresponding actions) on one central location, so that I can easily update it for everybody at once. I guess this can be done by modifying everybody's Controlpadportable.ini file, but I don't know how to do that exactly. Can someone help out ? Thanks !

Not that it should really affect anything, but the JavaPortable.ini inside the jPortable64 installer for version 231 is still the same as version 223.

[JavaPortable]
Vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.
Version=1.8.0_223
URL=http://java.sun.com/

should be

[JavaPortable]
Vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.
Version=1.8.0_231
URL=http://java.sun.com/

Rapid CRC Unicode - Virus?

Submitted by NotMine on February 4, 2020 - 8:40pm

Vipre Anti-Virus software is blocking the latest version (0.3.31) of Rapid CRC Unicode Portable during installation.

The Portable Apps Updater claims to have successfully installed the updated version, but Vipre has blocked the installation.

The Vipre log says, "Virus.GenericKD.33029228" with a "Threat Level" of "Extremely High".

Vipre's explanation of "Virus.GenericKD.33029228" is incredibly generic.

The file cited by Vipre as being quarantined is the downloaded PAF file.

Java use of registry seems anti-portable

Submitted by ajax on February 3, 2020 - 10:55am

I have the Portable Apps versions of OpenJDKJRE installed. Would like to use them for running another app, which is NOT distributed by portableapps.com, in portable fashion. Experience to date is a bit limited but it seems to working as expected but with one serious problem. Apparently Java is using the Windows registry to store persistent data. While I suspect that this is something the application developer could/should avoid it is NOT a problem peculiar to Java.

Java Portable Launcher not working

Submitted by chockalocka on December 28, 2019 - 7:40pm

Hi there,
I'm absolutely new to Portable Apps so please forgive for any unnecessary questions.
I'm trying to run Java JRE. When launching "JavaPortableLauncher.exe" I always get the following alert:

"jPortable Launcher (64-bit) cannot be started. You may wish to re-install to fix this issue. (ERROR: open could not be found)"

The same thing happens when I try to launch 32-Bit version of the "JavaPortableLauncher.exe".

Hi People,
does anybody know a program that monitors a specific folder, when it reaches more as a specific size (still configured before) it runs some alarm to alert me?

I hope my question is as good as it could be to understand. Sorry about any mistakes.
