As you guys should know Pidgin has been updated to v2.6.1 which includes several new features and improvements. Audio & Video anybody? No WIN Support yet but on the way [well if we waited this long, why not just wait a bit longer lol]

Btw, Thanks John for the rapid release of its portable version.
------

One of the new features in pidgin is the Theme support. I have known and I've been skinning pidgin with the GTK themes, but my question is; What is the different between the old GTK skinning style and newly introduced way?

Pidgin: No .exe created with install

Submitted by Marti on August 13, 2009 - 4:06am

I've been searching and troubleshooting this for hours, to no avail. No doubt the answer is simple, but it escapes me.

I created a 2gb truecrypt virtual encrypted drive.
I then downloaded and installed Pidgin-OTR 3.2 (from the PidginPortable page here) onto this clean volume.

It reports that all went well, but there is no .exe file to be found. The only things it does create are:

M:\PortableApps\PidginPortable

This directory is empty, except for two sub-directories, which have their own sub-directories:

  • -App
    ---Pidgin
    -----Locale
    -----Plugins
  • -Other

Pidgin: Not correctly parsing Command-Line variables

I've done lots of messing and testing to get this to work, and here's the issue.

I've had pidgin crashing a lot, probably a plugin but I'm trying to debug and find out.

To get pidgin to log, you need to use the following switches: "-d 2>&1 > PATH:\To\debug.log when launching pidgin.

The NSIS launcher somehow doesn't pass these correctly. It will create the debug.log, where you have specified, but it still opens a command prompt window and doesn't write any output to the debug.log.

[Resolved] PuTTY don't load a local reg file with the sessions

Submitted by guijarrelson on July 27, 2009 - 7:25pm

Hi,

I have the latest PuTTY portable in my USB Stick, and I exported the sessions of my local PuTTY sessions to a reg file. This reg file I moved to \PortableApps\PuTTY\Data\settings\putty.reg

When I open the Portable one, PuTTY read the local registry and load it. I want to load my reg file on my USB Stick instead the local registry.

How I can do this?

Greets!

Miranda 0.8.1 crashes immediately. Re-install of 0.7.19 Rev 2 works fine.

Submitted by qkrthnu on July 20, 2009 - 11:51am

Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but when I upgraded from 0.7.19 Rev 2 to the 0.8.1 Miranda Portable no longer loads.

The install completes successfully, but then when I launch the app it crashes immediately.

I've used dbtool to make sure my profile is in good order.

Pidgin - Digsby

I really liked Pidgin. I stood by there side for a long time. I switched from Trillian to Digsby a long time ago. Now I have discovered Digsby and it synchronizes all of your accounts and preferences. So when you get on another computer, or you reinstall windows, all you have to do is enter one login. That's it. And it remembers all of your accounts, all of your preferences, settings, and such.

Miranda: Firewall exception

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for a fix...

I have MirandaIM Portable running from my USB stick, and it works perfectly apart from one aspect. Every time I eject the drive the Windows XP firewall exception for the miranda32.exe program disappears. Therefore every time I plug the drive in I'm asked whether I want to unblock the program or not, and it's getting quite annoying.
