Exiting FileZillaPortable

Submitted by PAppSeeker on October 18, 2009 - 3:56pm

When exitting FileZillaPortable 3.2.8.1 (and older versions) it does not shut down properly (keeps running as it can be seen in the Task Manager), which prevents the user from "securely removing the device", unless the process is manually terminated via the Task Manager or similar programs.

FileZilla Portable's settings could not be loaded into the registry

When I run the FileZilla I get this info box.

---------------------------
FileZilla Portable | PortableApps.com
---------------------------
FileZilla Portable's settings could not be loaded into the registry. The account you are logged in with most likely does not have the ability to alter the registry. FileZilla Portable should still run correctly, but the default settings will be used.

The two best Instant Messengers out there are Miranda and Pidgin. Miranda with a ton of plugins allows you to manipulate just about everything, you name it you can do it in Miranda but this level of complexity is more suited for those who love to tinker.

Then there is Pidgin, Pidgin take a no frills approach to it's instant messenger, staying ahead of the rest(in my opinion) of the other universal IM's in the way of protocols and stability, this basic approach is more for the "Set it and Forget it" crowd that is not interested in pushing the envelope of tweaking the application.

Pidgin: 2.6.2 cannot login Gtalk account

Submitted by rodneyzeng on October 7, 2009 - 2:28pm

I'm behind company firewall. If I install Pidgin and set proxy, I can login Gtalk account.
But if I use Pidgin Portable and set proxy, I cannot login Gtalk account. The same proxy setting works on Pidgin does not work for Pidgin portable.
And it's more funny that, I can use Pidgin portable to login my yahoo and MSN accounts. The only thing that does not work for Pidgin Portable is Gtalk.
Any suggestion? Thanks!
