Pidgin: MSN offlline messages failed

Submitted by freekarol on September 16, 2009 - 9:35am

I don't use much msn so I don't know if it's normal for this protocol or not: when I want to send a message to someone who is not in my buddy list(and it seems that the person is offline) I get this message:

Message was not sent because the system is unavailable. This normally happens when the user is blocked or does not exist.

And I know for sure the person really exists and I am not blocked. Don't you know what to do about it?

Pidgin: 2.6.1 has a problem with XMPP+SSL

Submitted by zakhooi on September 7, 2009 - 4:33am

Hi,

I can't use portable pidgin because I need to use XMPP with SSL and I get the "Invalid certificate chain" error.
I know this is related to the certificate on the server but I need to have a workaround for this.

Could it be an old version of portable pidgin could work for me?
If so, where can I find and download old versions of portable pidgin?
The only version that is available is 2.6.1 that has this problem.

I hope someone can help me out here.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Pidgin crashes (libfontconfig-1.dll)

Submitted by 73h_p0W on August 25, 2009 - 2:00pm

Running on Windows XP Home SP3 "fresh reinstallation". Started it from my USB-Stick and it worked. Later after a system reboot it crashes constantly after something around a minute. It says it's a problem with "libfontconfig-1.dll". I even downgraded to 2.5.8 with the same result!

Connections: 2x ICQ, 2x MSN, 2x Yahoo, 2x IRC, 1x XMPP

When I disable all connections, it does not crash!

After enabling ANY of the connections it crashes. Sad

If somebody got an idea, let me know. If not I'm doomed!! Biggrin

Pidgin 2.6.1 - Theme Support Clarification/Help

As you guys should know Pidgin has been updated to v2.6.1 which includes several new features and improvements. Audio & Video anybody? No WIN Support yet but on the way [well if we waited this long, why not just wait a bit longer lol]

Btw, Thanks John for the rapid release of its portable version.

One of the new features in pidgin is the Theme support. I have known and I've been skinning pidgin with the GTK themes, but my question is; What is the different between the old GTK skinning style and newly introduced way?

Pidgin: No .exe created with install

Submitted by Marti on August 13, 2009 - 4:06am

I've been searching and troubleshooting this for hours, to no avail. No doubt the answer is simple, but it escapes me.

I created a 2gb truecrypt virtual encrypted drive.
I then downloaded and installed Pidgin-OTR 3.2 (from the PidginPortable page here) onto this clean volume.

It reports that all went well, but there is no .exe file to be found. The only things it does create are:

M:\PortableApps\PidginPortable

This directory is empty, except for two sub-directories, which have their own sub-directories:

  • -App
    ---Pidgin
    -----Locale
    -----Plugins
  • -Other
