Pidgin: Video Chat Workaround using MeBeam

Submitted by 73h_p0W on June 26, 2009 - 6:02pm

I found a plug-in for this "problem". To be exactly it's not a true workaround. It's just a web site offering free video conferences, that made a plug-in for Pidgin. That means the site works on any system!

The only problem with it is the following:

It only is available for Pidgin running on Windows!
The setup that can be downloaded needs a standard Pidgin installation. (Wait for the workaround!)

Workaround:
It doesn't matter if Pidgin ist running or not!

Miranda: GnuPG Support [SecureIM / Jabber]

Heya,

while you are working on the 0.8 release would it be possible to include code similar to the one from ThunderbirdPortable Launcher to set up GnuPG Settings when running the launcher?

"Why?" you will ask .. the plugin SecureIM can be used in RSA/AES and PGP/GPG mode. The latter is supported by many other clients natively, e.g. Psi (Jabber), licq, Gajim, ...

Pidgin portable crashes when GTK+ theme is not MS-Windows

Submitted by Art_S on June 19, 2009 - 1:16am

1) Edit PidginPortable\App\GTK\etc\gtk-2.0\gtkrc, set gtk-theme-name to
anything but MS-Windows, say
gtk-theme-name = "Emacs"

2) (Re)start pidgin

3) Pidgin crashes with message:
"AppName: pidgin-portable.exe AppVer: 2.5.6.0 ModName:
libcairo-2.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0001f5e8"

Does not seem to happen with normal version of pidgin (ie. non-portable)

Any ideas how to fix?

Thanks!

Pidgin: windows error reporting window

Submitted by freekarol on June 13, 2009 - 2:04pm

I have used Pidgin for a long time without any problems. But now I have a problem with it and I don't know what to do about it... When Pidgin wants to connect to my accounts it is always shown a "windows error reporting" window. BTW, I don't use any plugins... Please, could you tell me what's wrong with my Pidgin? Thanks a lot.

PuTTY: Integration with WinSCP Portable

I use PuTTYPortable in conjunction with WinSCPPortable quite often because of the way my college's computer science department is set up, I have to submit assignments from the lab (not over email), so I tend to do remote logins from my laptop. Anyway, regardless of the why, the what is that there are several problems with the integration of PuTTYPortable with WinSCPPortable.

Miranda IM Portable is not needed anymore

Submitted by CrendKing on June 2, 2009 - 10:30pm

Any Miranda IM released the Preview Release #2 today, I found a mirandaboot.ini file in the zip archive. In the [Database] section, the "ProfileDir" variable is designed to indicate the profile directory. By default, the value is "%APPDATA%\Miranda". Changing it to "profiles" and move the profiles directory under the Data directory from the Miranda IM Portable, we now have the same portability without any launcher, and which means Miranda IM Portable is not needed anymore.
