Pidgin: PP 2.5.0 crashes on buddylist mouse over

Submitted by ktannert on August 20, 2008 - 8:57am

I upgraded to PP 2.5.0 and it appears to crash when I mouse over the buddy list. I renamed the installation directory and tried a fresh install with a single AIM account. It crashes too when I mouse over the buddy list. It seems to happen when buddies are moused over in quick succession. Is anyone else having this problem?

Pidgin: Why can't I IM someone while invisible on msn?

Submitted by julias on August 15, 2008 - 10:31pm

Hello,

Starting back a year or so ago, using GAIM portable, I cannot go to invisible mode and chat on msn with anyone. If I type to someone online or offline on msn, I get an error message saying *not allowed while invisible* Using a yahoo account however, allows me to send/receive online/offline messages while in invisible mode.

I downloaded and am using pidgin portable now, and the same thing applies. I can send/receive offline/online messages via yahoo, but not using msn acct.

Is this normal? Any work around?

Pidgin: Using sfx for "temporary" installation and getting error 126

Submitted by Freeballer on August 11, 2008 - 1:06pm

I use sfx files to "house" my portables, several reason for it including that I share them occassionally and seems silly to have 2 copies on zip (and yes, this is the easiest method for MOST). I've used pidgin portable since it was a beta and even before gaim beta 2 -/= and never an issue.
I have windows vista, the newest pidgin (as of 8/2008) but getting:

error loading pidgin.dll
error: (126) The specified module was not found

This probably means that GTK+ cannot be found

Seems to be similar or same issue as discussed: https://portableapps.com/node/8808

FileZilla: Addressing the website folder on "PortableApps" disk

Submitted by mgagnonlv on August 11, 2008 - 12:11pm

For one of the websites I maintain, I keep the copy of the files on my USB Key. Things work well when I edit the files (typically with Notepad Plus), but I come to a minor annoyance when I want to upload the files. On my home computer, the path is "M:\Documents\Folder\my_files", whereas on my office computer it is "I:\Documents\Folder\my_files".

In both cases, M or I is the letter given to my USB key, which is the same drive where PortableApps.com applications are installed.

FileZilla: Settings - error

Submitted by mojoe on August 8, 2008 - 11:49pm

I haven't used FileZilla Portable in a while, but just now I wanted to setup the program to use a SOCKS proxy. When I selected Settings from the File menu, I get the following error: XRC resource 'ID_SETTINGS_CONNECTION_FTP' (class 'wxPanel') not found!

I'm pretty sure that in the past, I have used the Settings menu before. I don't know when things changed, but I have upgraded my FileZilla Portable a few times in the last several months. I currently have the latest version.

FileZilla: 3.1.0.1 Not Running

Submitted by richmay on August 7, 2008 - 4:23am

Hi all,

Have just upgraded my portable apps and added the latest filezilla portable but am having problems. The app just won't start. The flash screen comes up but then nothing else happens. I've got the app on a couple of portable drives and have the same issue on all of them. Anyone else having this issue?

Cheers

Rich

PS - not had any issues with previous versions and/or upgrades. I keep my portable apps pretty well up to date and have not had any other problems with filezilla

Two Questions about Pidgin Portable

Submitted by ggrosser on August 7, 2008 - 3:07am

1. I am using Pidgin Portable v.2.4.2, every time I open Pidgin it tells me that there is an update v.2.4.3. I then followed the link to where I can install the update it appears that it is not a portable version and it wants to install everything on my c: drive. Would this be the update that I want or no?

2. Disregard Number 2. Thanks.

FileZilla: Where is portablefirefox cache and cookies stored?

I looked inside the Portablefirefox folder, but I could not find anywhere where it stores its cache and cookies etc.

Does anyone know please?

Isn't Portablefirefox supposed to store all this personal data inside the portablefirefox folder?

GTK Legacy for running Pidgin on Win 9x - wrong path

Submitted by Bosanek on July 31, 2008 - 1:29pm

Hello!

According to the instructions here (https://portableapps.com/support/pidgin_portable#win9x), GTK Legacy portable v2.6.10 should "install" itself in "\PortableApps\CommonFiles" directory.

However, it installs itself in "\PortableApps\GTKLegacy" directory. What should I do? Should I rename the GTKLegacy directory to "CommonFiles", or leave it? If I leave it, will Pidgin recognize it and utilize it when started on Win 9x?
