FileZilla: 3.1.0.1 Not Running

Submitted by richmay on August 7, 2008 - 4:23am

Hi all,

Have just upgraded my portable apps and added the latest filezilla portable but am having problems. The app just won't start. The flash screen comes up but then nothing else happens. I've got the app on a couple of portable drives and have the same issue on all of them. Anyone else having this issue?

Cheers

Rich

PS - not had any issues with previous versions and/or upgrades. I keep my portable apps pretty well up to date and have not had any other problems with filezilla

Two Questions about Pidgin Portable

Submitted by ggrosser on August 7, 2008 - 3:07am

1. I am using Pidgin Portable v.2.4.2, every time I open Pidgin it tells me that there is an update v.2.4.3. I then followed the link to where I can install the update it appears that it is not a portable version and it wants to install everything on my c: drive. Would this be the update that I want or no?

2. Disregard Number 2. Thanks.

I looked inside the Portablefirefox folder, but I could not find anywhere where it stores its cache and cookies etc.

Does anyone know please?

Isn't Portablefirefox supposed to store all this personal data inside the portablefirefox folder?

GTK Legacy for running Pidgin on Win 9x - wrong path

Submitted by Bosanek on July 31, 2008 - 1:29pm

Hello!

According to the instructions here (https://portableapps.com/support/pidgin_portable#win9x), GTK Legacy portable v2.6.10 should "install" itself in "\PortableApps\CommonFiles" directory.

However, it installs itself in "\PortableApps\GTKLegacy" directory. What should I do? Should I rename the GTKLegacy directory to "CommonFiles", or leave it? If I leave it, will Pidgin recognize it and utilize it when started on Win 9x?

Pidgin: File Send Feature Doesn't Work

When using Pidgin to send files through AOL OSCAR protocol the following always happens

1. Right when I start to send the file, I get system message saying I've canceled the file transfer.
2. The file transfer starts - the file transfer meter doesn't move at all - then I get disconnected and I have to login again.

In both, my Firewall McAfee firewall and router, I made sure to open port 5190 both UDP and TCP and still no luck.

I can chat normally, I even can direct connect and send images like that; I just can't send a images, documents, songs as a file.

Filezilla secure keys are cached in the registry

Submitted by statement on July 10, 2008 - 7:39pm

I have a login for a SFTP connection, and I got a prompt that the secure key was to be cached in the registry.

The key is left behind is

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham

I assume it's PuTTys doing, and would much prefer this key to be exported/imported, and removed from the registry on exit.

Thanks

Pidgin and encryption

Submitted by Cassandra on July 10, 2008 - 4:14pm

If I decide to use Pidgin-Encryption 3.0 or Pidgin-OTR 3.2 and my contact is not using it are messages that I send and recieve still encrypted and invisible to my ISP? Or both contacts have to use those "add-ons" to make the chat encrypted. I don't care if the chat isn't completely encrypted. Is it invisible for my ISP if only 1 party (me) is using it?
