Pidgin: Crash on update to 2.5.1

Submitted by amdg-3141 on September 12, 2008 - 9:28pm

I did a search on the forum and didn't find anything along the lines of what I'm experiencing, but I apologize in advance if this has already been answered...

I just recently upgraded to version 2.5.1 from version 2.4.3. When I try loading this version, I get a "Pidgin has stopped working" error message. When I view the problem details, I get this:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: pidgin-portable.exe
Application Version: 2.5.1.0
Application Timestamp: 48ba1264
Fault Module Name: libmsn.dll
Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0

FileZilla: Live CD problems

Submitted by windpuff on September 9, 2008 - 3:57am

I'm trying to run PortableFilezilla (tried 3.1.1.1 & 3.1.2) from within BartPE, which is a Live (bootable) CD. I bumped into the problem of setting off a flurry of Error messages because of not being able to write settings, etc, back to the read-only CD. I tried to follow the instructions in the Help.html, but apparently my interpretation was incorrect.

Pidgin: Encryption choices.

Okay here's 3 questions.
Which Encyption method/Package is better to use with Pidgin ?

I would imagine that If I use Encryption 3.0, and another user
uses OTR, the messages are not readable by either of us because we
both have to be using the SAME Method/Package right ?

PIDGIN or Miranda matter of preference ?

"Bot Sentry" does not install with Pidgin Portable

Submitted by gugarcia on September 5, 2008 - 2:12pm

I am trying to install "Bot Sentry" (to block bots from sending me spam) on Pidgin Portable but it complains than Pidgin was not found, obviously the install tool does not recognize Pidgin Portable, does anyone know a workaround or another plug in to block bots that works with Pidgin Portable ?

Thanks.
