Foxit blocked as Trojan

Submitted by MacsAre1 on February 13, 2017 - 1:08pm

The download of an update to Foxit Reader keeps failing. I have version 8.1.0.1013 Rev 2, which I downloaded from this computer, and the latest version appears to be 8.1.1.1015.

If I try to download it manually I get this message in my browser:
"This request is blocked by the Firewall Gateway Anti-Virus Service. Name: (Cloud Id: 46601534) ZPACK.GEN (Trojan) blocked."

KchmViewer: upstream 7.7 is faulty, but shows an error message. Portable 7.7 doesn't.

I'll report to upstream that 7.7 is faulty. But upstream faulty version displays a clear error window. The portable version just disappears.

The details are:
On XP SP3:
KchmViewerPortable 7.7 displays its small logo window and disappears.
7.5 seem to run fine.
7.7 occupies 50% more disk space, compared to 7.5. As if 7.7 has lots of new features, or something.

[Fixed] Sigil 0.9.7 requires kb2999226

Submitted by Zee_Pants on November 11, 2016 - 11:54pm

So I just downloaded Sigil 0.9.7 and upon running it, nothing happens (visually). Bypassing the launcher and running sigil.exe directly I get an error message about a missing dll.

By installing KB2999226 ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 ) : Windows Universal CRT, and then running the launcher, all is fine.

Might want to mention the dependency or include the required RTs locally

[Fixed] Foxit Reader leaving a folder in AppData

Submitted by Emka on November 2, 2016 - 1:09pm

Supposedly after updating to Foxit Reader Portable 8.1.0.1013 from the previous version (not via the platforms auto updater but manually), I noticed a folder called Foxit Software in AppData/Roaming on Win10x64. I don't know what was inside the folder, if anything, sorry. Restarting Foxit and closing it did not delete it, and it kept reappearing after deleting it and starting Foxit. When I had deleted Foxit and did a fresh install of the current version, the issue did not come up again.

Sumatra PDF Reader 3

Submitted by Aliyan hashmi on March 30, 2016 - 3:20pm

Sumatra PDF Reader 3 portable application is fully justified for the systems window. It could be used as for many other purposes, such as PDF editing, and save, print, over 69 translations and more. If you are satisfied with all of its functions, then you have to adopt this system tool for personal and official purposes as you want.

[Fixed] KchmViewer Portable fails to load recent files having non-Latin characters in their paths

Submitted by DabjeilQutwyngo on March 6, 2016 - 12:51am

The Portable App environment writes Unicode data as ANSI into the registry, which results in that KchmViewer Portable fails to open recent files having non-Latin characters in their paths.

Here is the screenshot about what happens when recent files are opened from the File menu. The word “Английский” should be instead of the unprintable characters between words "Category" and "English".
