[Fixed] Scribus 1.5.4 Test does not start (needs Visual c++ runtimes)

Submitted by depp.jones on June 16, 2018 - 5:09am

On Windows 10 64 Bit Scribus 1.5.4 does not start or run. The reason for this is that the files MSVCP140.dll and VCRuntime140.dll are missing in the portable app package. Either include these files in the package or tell users that they need to down load them from the Microsoft Site and place them in directory X:\PortableApps\ScribusPortableTest\App\Scribus where X is the drive on which the user has stored Scribus Portable Test.

Thanks in advance

QUESTION: MS Word 2013 ?

Submitted by ab1kenobee on June 1, 2018 - 3:54pm

Howdy, Members:

1. It it possible to install MS Word 2013 only (without other MS Office apps) to my new notebook as a portable and sandboxed?

2. I have existing .DOCX files that have REVISIONS in right column that must also be retained...
(It appears that LibreOffice or other alternatives do not handle MS Word revisions well... plus I need to retain the .DOCX format.)

3. Is there an online Word editor that can competently accomplish this task without the necessity to install to local HDD?

4. Can Sandboxie be installed as portable?

[Fixed] Calibre Library folder

Submitted by danblake on April 27, 2018 - 12:13pm

Hello,

1st post at PortableApps.com but been using it for years.

I just added the Official PortableApps Calibre app. On the first run it asked me where to create the Calibre Library folder with the suggestion being C:\Users\admin\Calibre Library. This obviously would not make the library portable. Where should the Calibre Library folder be created for the Official PortableApps Calibre app and what syntax should be used?

Thanks for the help and fantastic software.

[Fixed] GnuCash report data directory being saved locally

Submitted by DanRe on February 24, 2018 - 5:44pm

GnuCash portable 2.6.19, is saving some data on the local computer in the operating system determined user directory, no matter what I do. It is expected that data will be saved in '[GnuCashPortable]\Data', but instead data is being saved in 'C:\Users\[User]\.gnucash'.

This breaks portability, because this is where Customized Reports are saved. (I'm sure that other things are saved here as well.)
