[Fixed] GnuCashPortable where to place settings for GTK 3.0

Submitted by gohhwaian on October 16, 2018 - 4:19am

Hello Gurus,

I am trying to set a dark theme for GnuCashPortable. Acccording to https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/GTK3#Dark_Themes, I could place the following:

[Settings]
gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme=true

in a settings.ini file in GTK_CONFIG_HOME.

I have tried putting the settings.ini file in Data/GTKDataHome, App/DefaultData/GTKDataHome but to no avail.

[Fixed] The Guide Portable Opening automatically the last used file

I checked the option to open always the last opened file, which works fine if TheGuide uses the registry to save its settings. If TheGuide uses the portable INI file, than opening the last used file fails with an error message, that the file can't be found!

This error exists since a long time, but I "learned" to ignore it.

Moving to a new computer, TheGuide suddenly didn't use the existing INI file, switched back to the registry and the error wasn't raised anymore, but came back after switching back to the INI file.

[Fixed] Foxit Reader Portable does not store created Signature

Submitted by akari on July 8, 2018 - 7:01pm

Beware if you create a signature in Foxit Reader Portable (9.1.0.5096), the signature file will be temporary created and stored in the host computer until the app closes. Signature file path: %AppData%\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\InstaSign\UserSign\

The entire %AppData%\Foxit Software folder will disappear after closing Foxit Reader Portable. Signature is not transfer to the location of the PortableApp and will not be available on re-opening the portable app.

Where find last version of GnuCashPortable?

Submitted by RogerL on July 2, 2018 - 3:43am

The latest PA version of GnuCash 3.1.2 has just crashed. It runs, icon in task bar but doesn’t display its window. It’s a known bug fixed in version 3.2. It is in the Work in Progress List but not tagged as being built.

Having this app running is very important to me, where can I find the previous PAF version and will it work with the latest data?

[Fixed] Scribus 1.5.4 Test does not start (needs Visual c++ runtimes)

Submitted by depp.jones on June 16, 2018 - 5:09am

On Windows 10 64 Bit Scribus 1.5.4 does not start or run. The reason for this is that the files MSVCP140.dll and VCRuntime140.dll are missing in the portable app package. Either include these files in the package or tell users that they need to down load them from the Microsoft Site and place them in directory X:\PortableApps\ScribusPortableTest\App\Scribus where X is the drive on which the user has stored Scribus Portable Test.

Thanks in advance

QUESTION: MS Word 2013 ?

Submitted by ab1kenobee on June 1, 2018 - 3:54pm

Howdy, Members:

1. It it possible to install MS Word 2013 only (without other MS Office apps) to my new notebook as a portable and sandboxed?

2. I have existing .DOCX files that have REVISIONS in right column that must also be retained...
(It appears that LibreOffice or other alternatives do not handle MS Word revisions well... plus I need to retain the .DOCX format.)

3. Is there an online Word editor that can competently accomplish this task without the necessity to install to local HDD?

4. Can Sandboxie be installed as portable?

[Fixed] Calibre Library folder

Submitted by danblake on April 27, 2018 - 12:13pm

Hello,

1st post at PortableApps.com but been using it for years.

I just added the Official PortableApps Calibre app. On the first run it asked me where to create the Calibre Library folder with the suggestion being C:\Users\admin\Calibre Library. This obviously would not make the library portable. Where should the Calibre Library folder be created for the Official PortableApps Calibre app and what syntax should be used?

Thanks for the help and fantastic software.
Daniel Blake
