GIMP always encounter errors. Then it close by itself when i do work on GIMP.

2 questions
How do you make gimp into photoshop... or
how do u combine photos with gimp

I've installed it and it should be called "multilingual GUI".

Also, where is it located both file wise and in the options?

I have now installed GIMP.

Just one small problem I have found and I am sure it's me. I have tried to create a banner with a photo set into one of the layers. I have not found a way to import the picture into the layer. The photo will only be small (just like a logo set into the layer. I also need to be able to set the position of the photo within the layer.

Is anyone able to help me?

Thanks to InCtrl5, do know that while GIMP Portable doesn't leave any traces in the registry like its official counterpart, it does leave these folders behind (keep in mind the portable version does not contain any uninstaller):

%APPDATA%\gtk-2.0
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp\fontconfig


The latter folder goes inside the temp folder, but still.

Can you please make it so those folders are deleted on exit or at least stored within the internal data folder?

I wanted to delete GIMP Portable from my Toshiba Tecra M4 Tablet notebook DVDRAM (udf 1.5). Windows XP tablet edition SP2 crashed showing blue screen and restarted. Errorlog says:

For some reason, the Freetype plugin was removed from the 2.4 release of GIMP (thus it's also missing in the portable app version). I don't know what the GIMP guys were thinking as I and many others use it often, but anyway... After a bit of searching, I managed to find a way to put Freetype back in 2.4.6 (Windows only). Just download the plugin from here then move freetype.exe to GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins.

Does anyone know how to install ghoscript / ghostview with Gimp Portable in order to be able to open pdf files, I have searched this forum and found a dead link and my other searches yielded no results but surely there must be a tutorial somewhere and I can see it would also be useful to others

When I try opening a .svg file, I get an error message as follows:

Plug-in crashed: "svg.exe"
(G:\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\svg.exe)

The dying plug-in may have messed up GIMP's internal state. You may want to save your images and restart GIMP to be on the safe side.

How is this plug-in "dying," and what can I do to bring it back to life?

Hi all,
even it was possible in previous versions (before GIMP 2.4.5 Portable) to "Edit - Copy" in GIMP Portable and then to CTRL+V e.g. in MS Word, it is not possible anymore. Could you help? Is it matter of setting, or bug, or known issue, ...
