Can you change the GIMP Default Save to location?

By default, GIMP saves all new files to X:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\bin.
If you save a file to a different location, GIMP will remember that, but only for that session; if you close GIMP, and then re-open it, it will once again save all new files to X:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\bin.

Not an awful problem, EXCEPT:
When you update GIMP Portable, it blows away the bin folder, and any files you accidentally saved there are lost forever.

I lost a number of files when I just upgraded to 2.6.7.

Gimp Portable Background Window

Submitted by Judebox on July 23, 2009 - 5:09am

Hi all !
I'm new on this forum and I have one question.
I have installed Gimp Portable 2.6.6 and the 2 plugins "Background Windows" and "Photoshop Layout".
The second one is well working but the first one seems to do nothing: when I open two pictures, I have to tabs in the Windows taskbar...
Is there any other thing to do after the plugin installation ?
Thanks !!

GIMP: undesired unicode character in the scale drop box

Submitted by JackieKu on April 27, 2009 - 2:01am

Hello,

I'm using GIMP Portable 2.6.6 on Windows Vista (Chinese version), I noticed there is a strange character at the bottom of window (Please see the screenshot at the below). It doesn't cause any function loss but it is somewhat annoying. (I didn't install additional locales and I'm using LANG=en_US)

GIMP: UFRAW - question

Submitted by mhonline on April 3, 2009 - 11:05am

I managed to install the develope-engine for the raw-files, quite the same as the How-to described it a little earlier in the (closed) topic in this forum. Rather slowly, it seems it can do all the expected.

However, a question: Although exposed in Adobe RGB the colour-scheme is sRGB, and it is exported as 8-bit only, I can not use any 16-bit-image-format, so after all the result is weaker than the camera-jpg.
Is that the status or did I miss something ?

gimp portable and photoshop layout question

Submitted by joshritger on March 23, 2009 - 12:52pm

I use gimp on both windows and linux. At work I have been using gimp portable with the photoshop layout. I really like this layout plugin and was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a standard install package for use with windows or linux for the photoshop layout plugin. I really want this plugin/layout for linux.

I mostly use linux so that is my more desired target.

Thank You,
Josh

Malware in GIMP?

Submitted by John JD Doe on March 6, 2009 - 7:33am

Recently I was just going through the old logs of my McAfee VirusScan, and one item was video.exe.

The location was in PortableApps\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\video.exe.

It was identified as New Malware.jj (Trojan). Is this just VirusScan being paranoid or has anyone else seen this?

GIMP: Issue with bringing graphics window into focus

Submitted by joshritger on March 3, 2009 - 6:43pm

I have been having an issue in the newest build where the window that the graphic is in will not come into focus. What I mean by this is that the tool panels are always on top of graphics window. This makes it hard to work on graphics in larger windows. I have tried deleting the install of portable gimp and downloading it again and still get this issue. Is there a setting that would cause this behavior?
