GIMP: How do you install the help file?

Submitted by gimpy on October 27, 2007 - 7:35pm

I downloaded it, a large (70mb) file and, in the absence of any instruction as to where it should go, I copied it into the main Gimp folder on my USB drive, where the Gimp program is contained. When I use the Gimp program and click on "Help" it still says "file not found"? Dunowot else to do. I scoured the Gimp web site for information on how to install the help file, but found nothing after an hour of looking. Any suggestion appreciated! Sad

GIMP Portable freezes when using keyboard shortcuts

Submitted by eltonbrad on October 27, 2007 - 2:52am

I've got no idea of what is happens, but when I used to have GIMP Portable 2.2.13, it would freeze whenever I use keyboard shortcuts as simple as Copy or Past. I've downloaded the latest GIMP Portable and I still have the same problem. I checked the Forums for the same problem but no one else seems to have problems with it. I also checked the Support page and still nothing was found. Then whenever I try doing something to get out of it, Windows brings up one of those messages saying that you can send a report.

GIMP: Loading Menus

Great program folks, love the interface, clean tidy looking, but I have an issue with the loading of the GIMP program.

I am unable to install the program properly due to it failing to load the menus towards the end of the install? I have tried several times to do this even dowloading new install?

Also now when I try to delete the Gimp folder, it refuses because of the menu folder being non accessible?

Tom

I have been trying to use gimp portable on my lap top, I am running win. Vista home premium pkg. I need to know if anyone knows how to prevent this or get it to run.
If there is a way to get it to work perfectly without removing anything that would be great, if not just direct me through wut I must do. Thanks

GIMP: Multiple copies of GTK on portable drive

Submitted by alanbcohen on October 9, 2007 - 2:51pm

This question is also related to other GTK-based apps, but I don't want to post multiple copies.

I have six folders named GTK and a number more as GTK2.0 on my drive, under CommonFiles, GimpPortable, PidgenPortable, X-ChatPortable, PlannerPortable, EasyTAGPortable, Claws-MailPortable, GNUCashPortable, and GNUBackgammonPortable. Are any of these removable? If so, which ones?

Thanks for your consideration...

GIMP: [Feature Request] shared GTK not found

Submitted by m2 on October 9, 2007 - 10:11am

GIMP Portable launcher removes default %PATH% entry, so it can use only internal GTK. This greatly increases it's size...
Is it due to the problems with xmlparse and xmltok? If so, the better solution would be setting %PATH%=(gtk path);%PATH%. This way Windows should find the internal ones first, but if they don't exist, still would be able to find the shared ones.

GIMP: video.exe is a destructive program named W32/Trojan.BXSI

Submitted by pscheid on October 8, 2007 - 9:04am

Hello,

my anti virus software (FP-WIN) detects the "W32/Trojan.BXSI" in the file video.exe at the path "GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins".

Is there a contaminated file in the installation package "GIMP_Portable_2.2.17.paf.exe" or is there an error in the virus signature of FP-WIN.

Many thanks in advance for your response!

Kind Regards
Peter Scheidegger
