De-wierdifyer with GIMP Poratble?

Submitted by melemel on May 7, 2007 - 8:50am

Can i use the de-wierdifyer ( http://registry.gimp.org/plugin?id=3892) with gimp portable? Ive tried and so far its not behaving - the background window will not close and when i minimise it leaves the gimp windows still maximised.

Any way round this? Im planningon using this in a school setting so the de-wierdifyer will reduce child confusion considerably!

Thanks, mel

GIMP: Open Location error

Submitted by ScrugneysGundogs on April 20, 2007 - 8:49am

I hate to sound like a complainer, but for my first post, I have a problem with Gimp. It doesn't work right when I try to "Open Location". For example:

File>Open Location>Enter Location URI>http://www.webite.com/picture.jpg

and I get this error:

GIMP Message
GIF Image Message
Could not open 'F:\http://www.webite.com/picture.jpg'
for reading: Invalid argument

GIMP: Live CD swap file problem

Submitted by nanobreaker on April 9, 2007 - 8:35pm

Using Gimp on a CDRW i get this message every time at startup:

Unable to open a test swap file. To avoid data loss please check the location and permissions of the swap directory defined in your Preferences (currently "${gimp_dir}").

I checked where the swap directory was -> F:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\Data\settings

Could this be another INI file problem? Any clues?

GIMP: Script fu process doesn't end

I use GIMP portable at school to do some icon and logo design and whenever I use one of the features in the script fu pack on an image, after i close GIMP, the script-fu.exe process stays running. The PCs are running XP Pro on a limited account. This issue only occurs on the school computers, it hasn't happened at home at all, and only if I use one of the script fu features.

GIMP: Crashing

Submitted by nakedparrot on April 6, 2007 - 5:55am

Gimp Portable continually crashes every time I start it up on a USB Key running in a system using Windows Vista. The web site says it's now Vista ready but something is causing it to crash every time it starts up and gets about half-way through the initialization process.

Where's the *separate* GIMP Portable HELP installation file located?

Submitted by jthorstad on April 4, 2007 - 12:40pm

I just downloaded the latest GIMP portable (v2.2.13). No *HELP* file included, because of its size, and said in a forum posting to be a separate download. Where can it be found for download? There really ought to be a distinct link to the help file download on the GIMP Portable web page.

GIMP: Error When Loading

Submitted by Ediseye on March 30, 2007 - 7:58pm

Hello.

When I install the latest version 2.2.13 and run it for the first time, I get 3 total errors which can be by passed by pressing the continue button many times.

Picture of one of the errors: http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c136/Ediseye/PortableApps/GIMPPortable...

So I kept pushing continue and I got to GIMP. All was well so I decided to close it and reopen. Every time I open GIMP, I kept getting one error message and you can still bypass it by excessively pushing continue.

GIMP: ReplaceInFile

Submitted by Patrick Patience on March 23, 2007 - 6:05pm

I don't know if it's like this for all the PortableApps.com Apps, but this is what i found in part of the GIMP ReplaceInFile file.

IfFileExists $2 +1 RIF_error ; knock-knock
FileOpen $R0 $2 "r" ; open the door

GetTempFileName $R2 ; who's new?
FileOpen $R1 $R2 "w" ; the escape, please!

RIF_loop: ; round'n'round we go
FileRead $R0 $R3 ; read one line
IfErrors RIF_leaveloop ; enough is enough
RIF_sar: ; sar - search and replace
