CDex 1.99 update failing due to invalid copy?

Submitted by Soundvessel on February 1, 2018 - 12:34pm

I am running the most current non-beta version of PortableApps on two fully up to date Windows 10 machines. I have also tried disabling live protection with my Nod32 anti-virus. Tried this on two separate machines on different networks and internet connections. Tried both yesterday and today.

PortableApps indicated that an update 1.99 was available for CDex but the update fails with the following message:

[Fixed] VLC Portable: Playing BluRay (AACS Plugin)?

Submitted by VLC_Fan on December 28, 2017 - 3:17pm

Hi all,

Has anybody managed to get VLC Portable play encrypted BluRays?

There is a solution available for VLC Vanilla at http://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name/ but the people I have talked to so far have not been able to make VLC Portable recognize these two files (plugin + config-file) correctly.

Thank you in advance for your responses!

Best,
VLC Fan

CDex 1.96 update error

Submitted by whmeeske on December 22, 2017 - 6:26am

Hi, my PortableApps platform shows CDex 1.96 is available to update, but if I will update it seems to start downloading, but within less then a second I get the error "Download Error: Access Forbidden (403) on file http://mirror.cdex.mu/CDex-1.96.exe"

If I remember well, I also got the same type of error when I tried to install CDex within portable apps a few months ago.

What can I do to get this update installed?

With the Audacity Portable 2.2.1 release, we have also released a plugin installer for LAME 3.100.
However, Audacity does not support this version of the LAME library yet. The latest supported version is 3.99.5.

Where / How to obtain VLC Portable 64-bit?

Submitted by Umlaco on December 10, 2017 - 12:09pm

To the best of my knowledge, this site does not provide a means to download the most recent release of the 64-bit version of VLC Portable. When I press the Download button, it always downloads the 32-bit version only.

Or am I mistaken? Is there a way to download the 64-bit version here or at Videolan.org? I've found other sites that supply this, but I'm not sure whether to trust them. How and where can I download an official 64-bit portable version of VLC?

Thanks

[Fixed] MediaInfo Portable may easily leave shell integration leftovers

Submitted by depp.jones on November 15, 2017 - 10:08am

As stated by rganny here, my current MediaInfo package seems to display the first run dialogue. This should not happen as the shell integration boxes are ticked by default on a new install or users could inadvertently tick them on an update.
MediaInfo would clean up the mess itself if one unticks these options, or the launcher takes care of that, but only during a second run.

SMplayer - False Positive in AV

Submitted by NotMine on November 9, 2017 - 10:51pm

The latest updates (going back the past 2 months at least for me) to SMplayer portable app are triggering "false positive" reports in Kaspersky AV.

The Kaspersky warning claims that app can be used for malicious purposes and places the Kaspersky AV Suite into it's "warning mode" (non-green AV GUI background) until the portable app is either (1) removed from the PC; or (2) an exclusion/exception is entered into Kaspersky.

The Kaspersky AV scanner provides no other virus indications other than to nag me about SMplayer potentially being used for malicious purposes.
