VLC: converting .mp4 to .mp3

Submitted by eager on May 20, 2015 - 9:17pm

Hi,

I'm trying to convert an .mp4 into an .mp3 in VLC Media Player 2.1.3.

I choose Convert, then choose the file to convert and then choose to .mp3 and then I name the new file with an.mp3 extension and click Start but it just shows the word Streaming and when I look on the hard drive it lists the file I was converting to but 0kb and plays nothing.

Is there a better way to convert an .mp4 file into an .mp3?

Thanks so much.

Audacity: No Sound from Exported Audio with Multiple Formats

With Windows 7: I'm getting No Sound from Exported Audio created with a mic with Multiple Formats (wav, ogg, mp4) when playing in VLC, Windows Media Player, WinAmp yet the audio plays fine when I play it Audacity Portable. Do I need the installed version to export the audio successfully?

VLC: Portable Launcher does not work with StdInput

Submitted by JarC on March 11, 2015 - 5:38pm

As an avid Twitch stream watcher, I've been using TardsPlay and Chatty as alternatives to reduce constant buffering and stutter when just viewing on the web.

These programs work by redirecting the videostream to a mediaplayer of choice, as long as this player supports stdinput redirection.

Sadly, the portable launcher doesn't allow me to use VLC in portable mode.

Can this be fixed?

VLC: Portable launcher is preventing multiple instances

Submitted by snovotill on October 1, 2014 - 7:33pm

Hi, I have VLC 2.15 installed alongside VLC-Portable 2.15 but the portable version refuses to launch if VLC is already running. Can the portable launcher be convinced to launch VLC-Portable? If not then can I fake it out some way? I need to have two differently configured instances of VLC on my PC. This used to work for me not that long ago.
thanks

[Fixed] Audacity: Path to FFMPeg is not preserved

Submitted by depp.jones on October 1, 2014 - 5:13am

Audacity changed to the new FFMpeg 2.2.2 library. The entry in the audacity.cfg is always reset to "...\\avformat-52.dll" whereas with release of Audacity 2.0.6 the new avformat-55.dll is used. the older one is not recognized anymore.

The entry in launcher.ini (line 56) has to be changed from

Value=%PAL:AppDir:DoubleBackslash%\\FFMpeg\\avformat-52.dll

to

Value=%PAL:AppDir:DoubleBackslash%\\FFMpeg\\avformat-55.dll

This can also be used as workaround until an updated build is released.
