Firefox Portable

working "offline" and animatd gifs

Submitted by tvme on May 18, 2010 - 10:40am

I'm stuck with dial-up. I often leave Firefox open and minimized when I go off line. About half the time, when I reconnect, the "work offline" doodad is checked. Its just annoying. The older version of FF didn't do that. The only non "portable-apps" applications on my USB drive are RQ Money and Monex. Is something "calling home"?

Any way to make FF stop doing that?

BUG: Secure web site causes BSOD

Submitted by Xeriphas1994 on May 17, 2010 - 10:12pm

Hello all. I use Firefox Portable 3.6 on my WinXP SP3 desktop machine, and in addition to various crashes, I get a BSOD pretty regularly when visiting the US Navy Human Resources site (https://chart.donhr.navy.mil). I may or may not have the nerve to do further testing, although I do have the last RAM dump if needed. I think the only extra extensions I've added are Flash 10.0 and Tab Mix Plus 0.3.8.2.

Firefox loads default settings in one circumstance

Hello,

There's probably an answer to this somewhere but my search didn't give me
an exact solution. Everything works OK except when I try to load a website
from a program and FirefoxPortable is closed in XP on the harddrive. A Firefox
appears with only default settings. The other Firefox is OK if loaded
first.

I cannot set FirefoxPortable as default browser in XP custom access/defaults
because it isn't listed, but it is the default browser according to Firefox
Portable options.

FirefoxPortable is the only Firefox on the HD. Everything works OK if FirefoX

RE: Firefox Memory Tweak

I was wondering if this tweak would break FFP's portability. I'm talking about the about:config tweak that drops FF's RAM usage to a mere 10MB when minimized. But reading up on it more, it seems that it goes to the local hard drive.

This tweak: config.trim_on_minimize (Bool: True)

Article.

"This little fix will move Firefox to your hard drive when you minimize it, and as a result it will take up less than 10MB of memory while minimized."

Gmail will only load in a small text window inside ff page

Submitted by birdbleed on May 11, 2010 - 8:24pm

This just started a few days ago and I think it may have something to do with google changing their site. Gmail loads fine in IE on the same computer but I'd really like to use FFP. I don't really even know how to describe the problem so please take a look at the pic.

I'm using FF portable 3.6.3

why are WE required to make a backup of our profile every time that we go to upgrade to a more recent version...WHY CANT YOU CODE THE INSTALLER TO DO SO??!!!! as im a fan and i use mine at school, and i just now, after trying to install an update...found out i NOW HAVE TO REINSTALL MY 70+ EXTENSSIONS BECAUSE THE INSTALLER DOESNT DO IT ITSELF...AND I HAVE PRECIOUS LITTLE TO NO TIME TO DO SO!...

so please, PLEASE take my rant to heart and code the installer to check to see if a profile exists and if it does, code the installer to COPY IT OVER!

Runaway process or extension in FF 3.6.3?

Submitted by stannat3 on May 6, 2010 - 2:04pm

I have installed FF 3.6.3 on my 16GB USB drive. Within the last week, I have noticed random errors that have caused FF to crash. There is no common thread uniting these errors, with the exception that using Firefox will rapidly cause the free space on my USB drive to decrease until the drive is reported as full. When I start a session in Firefox, both Windows and the PortableApps menu report that I have 11.1 GB of free space. Within a couple hours' usage, my free space decreases to zero.

FFP 3.6 Prefs.js

Submitted by arizona480 on May 5, 2010 - 3:50pm

Pretty sure I eliminated the extensions as being a factor, but removing the prefs.js file fixes the problem of the everything in the browser disappearing and leaving only the viewing window and the tabs.

Unfortunately my client did a lot of custom stuff (without making a copy of the profile folder recently) that is recorded in that file, so my question is:
