T-bird security certificates

Submitted by palapaguy on February 6, 2008 - 8:37pm

I'm confused about Thunderbird and the way it uses vcards and certificates. I'm using ver. 1.5.0.14.

I don't see a way for the program to include my certificate public key as part of my vcard. Outlook does that, I think.

Also, I don't see how to automatically add contact info and certificate public keys from incoming email into my address book in T-bird.

Thanks for any help.

Old Emails download again

Submitted by conundrum on February 6, 2008 - 4:35pm

I am running Thunderbird Portable 1.5.0.10
Periodically, (weekly, monthly), when Thunderbird pops for mail, hundreds of previously read emails from months back will download.
I have set in my client "Leave messages on server for at most 30 days".
My email is hosted off-site. My email provider is blaming Thunderbird.
I looked through the forum and couldn't find anything quite like this. My apologies if I missed something.
Has anyone heard of this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Local Folders

Submitted by John42 on February 5, 2008 - 9:10pm

Whilst transferring e-mail messages to local folders noted that " nstmp--5" appeared, have on many occasions try to delete from my Thunderbird local files but does not appear to want to be deleted. Whilst using backup on portableapps when just about completed 78% shows an error " 7zA.exe-corrupt file" believe this may be something to do with the above. Would appreciate some help in resolving this matter.

"Error opening file for writing: F:\mozilla\ThunderbirdPortable\App\thunderbird\freebl3.dll"

Submitted by taa on February 5, 2008 - 10:52am

I'm attempting to upgrade Thunderbird 2.0.0.4 (I think) to the latest version (2.0.0.9) but I'm getting this error during the install. The flash drive has 26MB free.

I have Abort, Retry and Ignore as options. Retry just keeps bringing up the same error.

Does anyone know what could cause this?

(P.S. Just noticed when I did the preview for this post that the date and time are off by nearly 40 years: "Submitted by taa on December 31, 1969 - 4:00pm.")

"thunderbird.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." HELP!

I just got startd on the whole portable apps thing and I love it! I mainly got it to do my email off of it. I have version 1.5.1.0 of thundrbird, and I had it running long enough to send and recieve a couple massages from my gmail. The next computer I plugged it into had the error message (the one from the subject), and now it doesn't work anywhere. HELP!

having Palm's VersaMail use a copy of my Thunderbird Portable profile

Submitted by teacherjh on February 3, 2008 - 7:26pm

I use Thunderbird Portable when travelling, and it occurs to me that it would be quite convenient for me to put the chip with my profile into my palm Tungsten E and let VersaMail access my email. I see no import or export features that will let me do this.

Is it possible? (It would be a darn sight easier than copying each Email into a Word document, saving it onto the chip, and then reading the chip in my palm from DocsToGo).
