Sent, Drafts and Templates folders gone

Submitted by midaran on February 18, 2008 - 1:45pm

Hello everyone,

I have just downloaded new version of Thunderbird portable to put it on my USB drive, but after installation and after adding email account I do not see special folders like Sent, Templates or Junk.

I thought that they will be created upon first usage (first mail sent for example), but nothing happened.

Is it normal ?

Best regards
Midaran

Thunderbird Portable and CommonFiles

Submitted by mstinaff on February 18, 2008 - 10:40am

In my latest GnuPG Portable DevTest I have included a modified ThunderbirdPortable.nsi. I am hoping to have some of the Thunderbird Portable Gurus check it out.

quick build instructions:
1. Verify you can compile the original ThunderbirdPortable.nsi
2. Install GnuPG Portable
3. install Enigmail if needed.
4. backup your original thunderbirdportable.nsi

WebMail needs 2.0; - NOT compatible with current Portable Thunderbird 1,5

Submitted by ggglen on February 12, 2008 - 2:36am

The main reason for my trying this thunderbird is that it is portable, and offers a quick way to get/send emails from various internet cafes. Unfortunately, current Webmail extension 1.3 can ONLY be installed with Thunderbird 2.0+. And the latest portable vers is 1.5. I searched for but could not find an earlier .xpi version of WebMail. But maybe someone could post here or somewhere an earlier webmail version which will work with the current Portable Thunderbird...? Otherwise, it seems to defeat the purpose of even using Thunderbird.

Password Manager

Submitted by PortaBert on February 11, 2008 - 9:08am

When I use the Password Manager to save the password of my E-mail account, it says that the data is stored in a file on my computer. Therefore I get the advise to use a Master Password.
I assume that the file is stored on the USB stick and not on the PC, or else it would be useless ?!
In either case, where is the file stored ?

And why does the preview of this post say:
