Thunderbird Portable

I just downloaded the Thunderbird Release Candidate and today. And this didn't happen on my old version, at the botton of thunderbird, in an ugly red font is this:

This didn't happen in my old version, is this anything to do with the release candidate version? I don't know whether this has been mentioned or not.

Trying out Thunderbird Portable (1.5.0.10) to see if easy-to-use secure email is finally here. Well, not quite.

I downloaded the Thunderbird+Enigmail+GPG version and went through the rather cumbersome process of getting a Thawte account and a certificate.

Is there a way to encypt the thunderbird folder whilst still retain the portablity of it.

If so what would be the best thing to use?

I like the idea of having my email & client on my flashdrive so I can use a full featured client instead of relying on webmail, also being able to re-read emails offline is usefull, however im a bit concerned should i lose my flashdrive someone could find it and read the emails
Which is why id like to use some form of encyption/password protection if possible.

I'm running PA from a cdrw. Whenever I try running TB or Sunbird I get a messages saying that the apps are running from a read only location. I have used the ini files. Can anyone help?

I WAS DOING AN UPDATE ON PORTABLE THUNDERBIRD FROM VERSION 1.1.1.4 I BELIEVE BUT IT FAILED. GOT A POPUP STATING "The application or DLL E:\PortableApps\Apps\PortableThunderbird\thunderbird\js3250.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." I STILL SEE MY MAIL PROFILES IN THE DATA FOLDER BUT CAN'T GET THUNDERBIRD TO LAUNCH. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Is there any way to set PTB to show have an Icon show up in the taskbar area (next to the clock, ect) when minimized or when the window is closed?

I am running Windows XP btw.

I had it plugged into a Mac for other things on the HD then I pulled it out w/o doing the safely remove hardware and put it in a laptop and now no emails show up and it keeps asking me to create a account. also on a side note the address book is still there just all emails and account settings are gone!

At my work the use outlook 2003. (exchange and offline folder)
I use it for my agenda and email program.
Now i have a usb stick with thund portable
I'm looking for a way to sync my work outlook agenda in th port with lightning.
Maybe if it is possible i also want a sync of emails.

Can someone help me with this?
I don't have admin rights on the pc so i think it needs to be portable?

Thunderbird Portable's habit of reverting read messages to unread is a real pain.

I've so far noticed this when
1) TP is run on a new machine

2) Message Search is run on a folder
3) Other times... apparently randomly, just some of the older messages in a folder (which hasn't been visited recently... perhaps since the last upgrade?) are newly marked unread.

This behavior has been present for at least 1.5 years (since I started using TBP... not exactly sure what version, but I keep uptodate... right now TBP 1.5.0.1)

... It's at 1.4.7 now, not 1.4.6... Someone needs to update the version in the next portable compilation.
